Seems the average dime find is about 1-2 per box overall. Me, 1 per about 3 boxes. Never found a silver quarter in a machine wrapped roll. Halves are still best, but dimes aren't far behind.

You have to remember that in only four years is the semicentennial of clad coinage. I'm still surprised when I see a 1965 or 66 quarter or dime.

Well, if not pulling silver will make you believe, you oughta see my skunks over the last significant number of boxes. *heh*

You are, however, right...hence my clarification that I could not confirm it. :)

Got a ton of CWR from some different banks today... got nothing good except 1 silver dime ('46) and 1 '45-S quarter.

Oh, and 3 40%'ers that were loose.

Oh, and my second 1973-S proof quarter in 5 days... weird.

Box of halves, nada. Box of dimes, nada. Box of nickels, nada. Did pull 139 Pre-60's though, most ever for me. Found 103 in last weeks box. Too bad they aren't worth jack diddily. I have over 50 rolls, be cool when I feel a box.

Oh and my order bank didn't order my 4 boxes of halves. I may have to go to CRH anonymous.

I did one today, but... No buffs in my last 3 boxes. :(

I'm nearing a full roll of dated buffs from circulation that are duplicates not for my collection.

    Wow

    Wow i scored pretty big.

We got $750 1.5 boxes with 2.5 more boxes ordered. :)

In our first box and a half i found only one goodie, but my wife found like 20, and my kids found a few.

    12 1968's (40%)
    9 1967's (40%)
    4 1969's (40%)
    3 1966's (40%)
    1 1964 (90%)
and one 1971 Proof (at least i think its a proof)
All in all over $100 if sold right.

I have a few questions though..can someone look at that pic...i have one kenedy that says 1960 on one side and one 1985 on the other. It has a P on it but the dates are scored really deep like it was pressed into a real soft metal. It has a gold hue but im certain it's not gold. Anyone know what this is? Is it a fake coin?

We also have a ton of the bicentennial, are those worth anything?

    Thanks Coins Talk

Well it finally happened ! I actually found some Silver this year. I swapped $30 in halves I had searched for dimes at a branch in the supermarket. They were all CWR's with the #40 marked on them and taped at both ends. I wasn;t expecting much at all, but didnot think it would take long to go through them. I found a couple of 70's that were better than the ones in my 2x2 book, so I swapped those out. Then I found a 1948 Roosevelt. I would call it AU55, good luster and full abnd lines. Looks like it came from a Whitman folder. Obverse has slight toning while the reverse is bright. Shiny as the new ones, so I didn't pick up on it right away.

Someone did stamp those dates into that half. I don't know why, but suspect it was in memorandum for someone or possibly as marking a 25th anniversary or something ? I wouldn't have kept it either.

$80 in CWR of halves... 6 40%'s and one 64. Box of nickels... one war, two canadian, 18 pre '60 and one buffalo ('27). Not a bad day.

Mkoenig: The dates on the Kennedy are post mint and I have found many of them as I have searched. No premium. You answered your own question on the bicentennials......you found a ton of them......therefore, they are not worth anything but 50 cents. Congrats on all of the 40%ers. I just sold a roll on ebay last night and it went for $78.10. It is under melt, but since I paid $10 for it, it is all good.

I know this thread is mostly about finding silver and rare dates but I have just started collecting and have been trying to fill the whitman "push in" type albums and purchased my first rolls to search today at the bank and I got very excited when I found a 1938 Jefferson Nickel in pretty good shape. Sorry, I know it's not that rare but for me it was pretty exciting on my first time! I also have a question though; Should I put this coin in the push in album or perhaps better protected in a different holder? Thanks guys! Here's a picture:

    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

Just got my first box of halves to search. Aside from the obvious (40% and 90%)
is there anything else that is worth searching for? Thanks.
