I did have some trouble getting the coins out of the velvet holder... so I pulled out that little velvet thing the coin holder sits in to push the plastic holder out... but I noticed in the bottom of the velvet flip case it has the #97 on one and #98 on the other eagle I received. Do any of you guys and gals have these #'s in the bottom of the velvet flip box? I was thinking perhaps that was the # they came off the press. I have no idea though... I'm putting this in the other 2010 silver eagle thread as well.

I popped the panels out of my cases and none here on any of mine either.

If they are small adhesive labels, perhaps someone in QC forgot to remove their sticker?

If they are embedded in the metal or plastic of the parts the cases are made of, then probably just a 'part number' from manufacturing or to indicate which pieces go together during assembly.

Pics would help us know what to look for.

Of the three ASE's I received from my subscription order, all three were flawless. Can't find one problem with the rim, the frosty surface, or the background. One of the plastic holders did have a hair sticking out of it but I have to say that I am very pleased with all three coins overall.

UPS tried to deliver the remaining 10 but needed a signature and they don't seem to want to compromise on that issue so I may have to just pick them up at the distribution center once they are off of the truck. If they are anything like the first three, I may keep them all.

When are the final mintage numbers going to be publicized? Anybody have a guess?

Well, I guess I can use some of them for gifts this year. The first three belong to my 3 boys. The remaining 10 are up for grabs at the family gift exchange. My work is done here. :)

those number i were referring to were in black marker in the bottom of the velvet case- you take the piece the coin sits in out of the case and thats where i saw the black marker #'s in the bottom of the box. I don't know what it means, I will try to take pictures late tonight and post them. Thanks all!!!

hey guys, i'm very new to the whole return defective coins back to the mint so i was wondering how long does it take for the turn around time if i asked for an exchange for new coins? Or should i just do a return refund and then just order more from the mint? Thanks!

Shipped 13 of 18 back today. I am very happy with the 5 I kept, but the 13 going back all have some type of problem. Hopefully nobody here ends up with them.

I sent mine back by Priority Mail and Insured, got back to the Mint in 2 days time. If you 'exchange' you may be in the same queue for products as are new orders if you went the refund and reorder route. At any rate, with the numbers of coins I see going back, you are bound to get sloppy seconds in either course of action.

Wow! That's a big percentage of problem coins going back! Glad you found some you can hang onto.

I may have been a little picky with them, but I tried to cancel most of my subscriptions on Nov 10th, but the orders got reinstated when they cleaned up the mess they had with all the subscriptions getting cancelled. Since they came anyway I thought I should look through and pick the ones I wanted. I feel the ones I kept are strong 69s or 70s, but of the ones I returned, one had a scratch on the mirrored field, and the others all had some type of abrasion or gouge in the frosted areas.

the only good news for buying 2010w ASE proof at $45.95 are:

let's say. if the mint released it next week and base the silver at $28.81. then the offer price will be $59.95 each instead of $45.95.

a lot of people buying proof instead of uncirculated. thus bringing all ASE proof to way above $60.00.

Got my confirmation email last night that my ASE shipped. After I rcv'd the first "we deleted your order" email, I called the mint to try to "request priority handling and an upgrade to expedited shipping" but since I placed a new order on 11/23 my order was "in the warehouse" and they couldn't do either. Let's hope I get a clean coin.

Finally got the 10 I ordered the day they went on sale. No problems at all with the coins that I could see. Guess I got lucky or my eyes aren't that good. Sent 10 of the 12 total I got off to NGC.

I got my 4 but haven't had a chance to look at them yet. I will tonight but I've spent all of 6 hrs at the house since they came in on Wednesday.

    Congrats on the winners Craig!

My eyes are pretty good and I don't wear glasses/contacts at all but I really needed a magnifying glass and bright light to spot the spots on my coins.
