No good deed ever goes undone......pay it forward .....pay it back.....good karma .....the golden rule.....times are tough and one never knows what tomorrow will bring! One never knows when they will need a hand up them selves. I have seen this many times in my life time.....your compassion will return to you when you least expect it.

I am a tree climber. I will have no pension, and since I only work in good weather, I only have 6-7 months of taxable income a year, so my social security will be about 50% of normal. i am going to get about 300 bucks a month to live on. I can only hope to die before retirement, and there's a good chance that may happen. I would have to work to 70 to get 500 a month. Right, climbing trees at 70. I am 52 and can hardly move in the morning. Sorry for the rant.
EDIT- I have 60 dollars saved for retirement, plus my coin collection, about $2000. I had a money market thing, $750, but the fees ate the interest, and I lost money, Edward Jones never mentioned the yearly fees when I took it out. I with drew it, and had to pay tax on money I already paid tax on, since my interest was less than 0%.

No, take a deep breath there young man....as my daughter says "chillax". LOL

You read into my post COMPLETELY the wrong way. You did what you could and I commend you for that. :smile I was trying to convey that I would have gone above and beyond. My comment meant no ill-will toward you.

Phrase it differently next time then :)
I would have given more if I had had it and frankly, if I ever find out who his daughter is, I'll give them back to her since my friend said they are "technically"hers.

    To lincolncent,

I commend you on what you did for D in his time of need. It was nice to someone help a fellow collector. I think it is very easy to judge others and say what you would have done. This economy is tough on everyone so every little bit of help goes a long way!

ps gboulton you must be a lawyer!

I don't usually do this sort of thing, but +1 . Couldn't have conveyed my sentiments more precisely
