Hi everyone! I was hoping I could get some opinions on this coin. Do you think it would be worth getting professionally graded? Any ballpark estimates of its possible value or grade? I understand the quality of photos leaves a lot to be desired, but it's the best I could do at the moment. I can try to get some higher quality pictures tomorrow if necessary. Thanks in advance.
The pictures make the coin look kind of funny...almost as if the surfaces have been altered but I don't see any absolute signs of cleaning. So, I'm going on the assumption that what I am seeing is just the photo and not the coin. That said, based on the details I see...I would grade this coin a VF. That would probably put the value between $25-$30. This is a fairly common date and the grade is not high enough to warrant professional grading. The cost of grading alone is more than the coin.
Thank you very much for your input. Not necessarily as good as I was hoping for, but not too bad considering I found it in circulation I suppose. I still plan on posting better photos, simply because I feel the current ones do not do it justice. I am still VERY new to this coin thing, so again, I appreciate any and all input.
That is amazing. That beats the oldest nickel I found in circulation by quite a bit. (And when I last found an early - mid-teens- Buffalo nickel in circulation LBJ was President.)
I would like to see better pictures, but I think they will confirm what I have said at best. I don't think they will reveal any positive detail I have missed.
Cleaned" Fine" ... deep dirt in the date and around the stars , coin would grade F details grade due to its been cleaned , also a rim ding at 3 k on the rev. value around $10.00 -15.00
