I was looking at some quarters last night and this one caught my eye. There was a line running across the top of Washington's head that wasn't part of the design. At first, I thought it was a scratch, but when I looked at it with a 14X loupe, I could see that the line was raised, not incuse, so it seems to be a die crack error. Although you can't see the entire length with these scans, the line is very noticeable under the E and R. I call it my "cracked skull" quarter.

I do love it. And, checking through my '64-D quarters, I found another with a "cracked skull" as well. The crack in the second coin is most prominent under the "R" in "LIBERTY", but as with the first coin, it extends across most of the skull.
