Nice ones Vroomer, I tried to take some pictures of my GSAs but my picture taking skills are the suck.
I use an Olympus FE-340. It's a few years old and a Google search shows them for less than $200. I had this on the "AUTO" setting. Then I pushed the Flash button and selected NO FLASH. Finally, I pushed the "flower button" (it looks like a flower on the camera) and selected SUPER MACRO. Hope that helps some. In reality, I was just playing around with the dang thing and I got those pics. HA! Someone had a rig a few years back on here that was pretty sick/slick for taking photos of coins. Held the camera stable and what not. I did a little searching on this site before I attempted these pics. No dice. Believe me, I are "teh suk" at photos, too. However, with the right settings and camera, you too can fool 'em all.
1881-s It doesn't come out too well in these scans, but this coins has truly rainbow toning, on both sides
Blu, I need you to stop cornering the PL and DMPL market long enough for me to acquire a few nice 63's. lol.
It is, actually, natural toning, thanks to the high sulphur content of the wall boards in that old Japanese house I used to live in. It was sitting next to this medal, a 5oz hunk of silver that was produced by the old Gallery Mint Museum:
I haven't posted one on here in a while. Here's a 1903 O, this coin used to be considered one of the key dates in the series, until the early 60's when they discovered bags of uncirculated specimens in a U.S. treasury vault that had been sitting there untouched for decades.
Or for those who prefer their Morgans circulated, how 'bout a nice 93 O in VF? The toning on this one is MUCH darker in hand, still working on my photography skills.
