Please refrain from saying TomB on these forums or any forums again. All I could think about today was his 1939D. Darn near ran a little kid over on my way to the store.:axemeethead:

No seriously though, I just got done contacting him again. I want that dime so badddddddddddddddddd!

Good luck getting him to part with that puppy. One of the finest toned Mercury dimes in existence.

He actually gave me a price last spring. He wants MS69 money (rightfully so) but I was worried it would come back MS68. Its a crap shoot!

Here is my last toned coin. It's an 1891-S Seated Liberty Dime, NGC MS 65. I liked the toning when I first bought it earlier this year. Now, I'm not so sure.

That crimson russet toning, I find somewhat pleasing . I'll go with $845.00

FMV is $1000 to $1050 according to Numismedia. I will try $1300.

I really like the toning... I don't think it commands a premium (good thing), it's attractive (good thing), and imo is unquestionably NT where many "monst'a" toners I've see slabbed are not (good thing)....

they say good things come in 3's..... these are my 3 regarding this coin and it's toning pattern.... I'll go a smooth grand ($1,000) and assume you got a great deal on a very nice coin.

That didn't take very long, so am not going to wait 24 hours to reveal the winner. Price paid was an even $1000. You're up Bahabully.

Dang, this is the second time I'm late with the right guess. I also find this coin very attractive; why has it lost favor with you?

By the way, I notice this one's also photographed by bluevette; his photos do a good job of bringing out the color.

I like the orange color, don't like the dark blue that is creeping in from the rim. Also, while I like the orange coloring, it is so pervasive that it's hard to see some of the details on the obverse. I'll keep it though.

PS: It might be a good idea still to wait 24 hrs. even if someone has guessed the price; that way it would give more people a chance to wrestle with their guesses and, at least for me, be more educational.

So, I'm guessing it's a little darker in hand?

In my limited experience with toners, dark blue is never not dark under certain or even normal lighting, unfortunately.

When did you buy it? If recent, FMV is about $700, so I will try $1100.
