I'd be consevative and say '69.......

 

Krispy you appear to be correct once again! I just got an e-mail stating that my second one was just mailed out. The first one cost around $50 and the second one was around $45. Looks like they did indeed waive the shipping charge on the second ASE.

Think that's only gonna affect the expedited stuff Chris. Most of the stuff out of the fullfillment center moves via ground and don't head anywhere near the Volunteer State.

 

For anyone buying $300 or more you get free expedited shipping from the Mint automatically applied to your order. Only need to order 6 or more proof ASEs to get close to that amount. Anyone with orders of 10 or more may experience issues if the warning has any merit at all.

Funny thing is that I looked at the Wunderground weather maps and there does not appear to be any inclement weather in the region since. Not since those tornados passed through Illinois... maybe this is a preliminary holiday excuse or something regarding the snowy weather in the west. Sure sounds like it is bound to effect delivery for someone whether there is a drop, flake, high winds or nothing but heavy air travel this holiday weekend.

 

My ASE were shipped FEDEX today

 

I ordered 3...2 on subscription back on NOV 5 and 1 on the 19th. The one on the 19th moved from back order to in stock today, The subcriptions have been and are still in the stock status.

I'm wondering though, is it worthwhile to get them graded, even if they don't make a 70? I've noticed many outlets only sell graded coins. Is this because people don't trust anything ungraded?

 

IMO, if you are going to get them graded, you might as well buy graded. Unless you plan on selling them to the outlets. However, if you get it graded and get a 70, you'll be able to make a big profit. For now. So its really up to you.

 

I agree with Lincolncent. If you want 'em graded, buy 'em graded. Me? I just leave 'em in the mint holder. I like mine raw and if the day ever comes that I want to hold one up close and personal I don't need to break out the vice grips and band saw.......

 

Are 70's really worth the extra $$$$'s ?

 

My opinion, and my opinion only (don't try this at home folks) is no. I think '69's are just as nice but I understand that there are folks out there that collect 'em for the '70 grade. As in all aspects of collecting....to each his own.

 

Not to me but the market says otherwise. 70s bring big premiums in almost all instances. With silver eagles the premium over OGP might only be $40 or it might be $140. It's a tight spread for those sending them for grading in the hopes of cashing in.

When you move to 1oz Platinum and Gold American Eagles, the spread can approach $1,000 making them much more profitable for submitters receiving a 70 grade.

Does it matter which rating company gives you the "70"? Do both rating companies use similar standards ?
