It will be interesting, and closely watched, when the final mintage figures for the 2010 ASE proofs are published early next year. We should start a poll! Anyway, the 200,000/month estimate can now be coupled with the start of production, which was reported as the week of Sept. 19th. Likely we're looking at a 700,000 piece maximum and, as noted in the quote above, there is a chance 600,000 won't be reached! I would love to see a 550,000 piece final tally! : )
I've finally got an update on one of my two subscriptions, I have two subscriptions on the same account, one for (3) and the other for (5) pieces. Both were "In stock and reserved" on 11/05/2010. Just checked one last time for the evening and found a FedEx style tracking number for the subscription of (3) units. The (3) subscription order has the lower order number than the (5), a difference of 3704 order numbers, so perhaps by midday tomorrow they will have processed my second subscription and post a tracking number for that one as well.
My order for 10 pcs was made about 3:00pm ET on Friday (opening day). It was "In Stock and Reserved" at that time. It is now Backordered. No need to fear folks! If you ordered Friday or had a subscription, you'll get your coins! I ordered mine with extra frosting on the devices, so that may be what caused the backorder!
Just got an e-mail from the mint that mine shipped today (Sun. Nov 21 @ 9:12 pm). I have tracking numbers but it doesn't say who the shipper is (FedEx, UPS, USPS?) and it doesn't show up on my account. I guess it will show there in a day or two so I can track it. At least the door is now open and they are starting to ship.
Shipped on a Sunday? hmmmmmmmmmmmm..................... The US Mint has taken insufficiency to a whole new level.........
Fulfillment is not done by the US Mint, but rather a contracted third party service. This company could be working multiple shifts around the clock at the Plainfield, Indiana fulfillment center to process orders.
I thought a Sunday night shipping was weird also. I recently got a shipment of Hot Springs quarters out of Plainfield, Indiana. Could be where this is coming from. I'll keep you posted.
It's not weird at all. There are companies that begin their week on Sunday, for start of business on Monday. If you are shipping items by expedited service like FedEx, as the US Mint/Fulfillment Center is using, then you want to get parcels on their way from the Center to the transportation hubs for flights and trucks rolling out early AM on Monday from 12 am on. As I mentioned before, fulfillment of US Mint orders is not done by the US Mint, but rather a contracted third party service. Check the return address on your parcel when you receive it, it will come from the Fulfillment Center in Plainfield, Indiana, not the US Mint in Washington DC.
They caught up to both of my orders finally! Got tracking numbers for FedEx delivery for both of my subscriptions! :thumb:
In response to Green's question about when my order taht changed from instock to backordered went through: 1:30ish on the day of release. Also, backordered to the 7th now. Ugh.
there must be something up with the track order page. i know the mint put a hold on funds for my 5 subscriptions but when i go to the track order page it shows its not found. it must be a glitch because it does it for all my past orders
Greetings from Connecticut! I checked my order (track order) on the Mint web site and it said it couldn't find the order number. I called Customer Service and they looked up my orders (one shipped yesterday and the other two shipped today). The Customer Service Agent said that the high volume of orders was causing a backlog in getting the tracking info updated. I tried to get him to tell me how many had been ordered, but he clammed up at that point. I'm guessing they sold quite a few of these things.
CT-ing from CT today, eh? Maybe for those of us with enough Proofs ordered, if we dislike the quality, we can trade them in to be melted for the 5 oz. pucks instead.

? ? ? Dunno about this one... no clear shot of the date and he's using a stock image from the Mint web catalog as well.
