Ah, I wasn't sure if it was or not. It's funny how many people I've encountered on CT who are not from my geographical location but who use it to joke about posts.

 

It's a famous part of a famous city. People who wouldn't know Montauk from Montana know about Brooklyn.

It's one of the few places in the world where a tree is both a plant and a numeral.

Hey, you can probably pick up a scale for less than a bucket of paint! It's the economical thing to do and you don't have to tape off all the edges.

 

You tape the edges? I just wing it, my hand is as steady as a wet piece of toast.
By the way Chris, what model did you buy? I was checking some of the websites you gave me and saw quite a few different ones.

It can weigh in the following units: gram (g), carat (ct), ounce (oz) and troy ounce (ozt)

Uses two AAA bateries and there is a transparent cover that you place over the unit when not in use to protect the scale, but it doubles as a tray for loose items that could roll off the scale when weighing things.

 

The one thing I have learned about chores is that by putting them off, they take forever. I always do the thing I dislike the most, first and as quickly as I can get to it. Then instead of casting a shadow over my life, it's taken it's place in my personal history. Something I remember but really doesn't cause worry or concern. Of course I am the guy who could hardly wait for his W-2 forms so he could get his taxes filed and the check in the mail. I hate worrying about things to come or things that need doing. It's the only way I can live without stress. lol Heck, if stress shortens one's life span, I may live to be 304.

Well I finally bought a scale and weighed the IHC and it tipped the scale at 3.10 grams. Walter Breen says that the later dated Indians were 3.11 grams +/- 0.13, so my "dryer coin" is in the range. Now I have an explanation for "what's wrong with this IHC" after all these years. The most exciting thing about this whole thing though is that after 20 years or so I finally bought a scale ... and it works. Thanks everybody for all the good info.
