http://cgi.ebay.com/1974-PENNY-DIE-...26?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item4cf27e197a is this really rotated and to what degree?
the 'off center' part of the ad is crap. the coin might have a slight misaligned die, but that was extremely common in the early 1970's, and isn't worth anything on this particular coin. the fact that he doesn't say how much the coin is 'rotated', or even show a picture, makes me think it's of the same quality as the 'off center' part.
Courtesy Penny mans terrible spell check Now I am going to have to go with robbudo on this one, the ad is not sufficient enough to get accurate information and $1.99 is too low of a price and nearly a 200% loss if your "going out on a limb" is incorrect. Notice it has yet to be purchased, I would say stay away
To some people every coin is an error. Off center. Rotated reverse. Why not call it a cud while we're at it? These are all words with no meanings to many.
Not every seller is a scammer. Some are just ignorant. I've found 90% of sellers are happy to be educated. Remember, new collectors have to go through a period of learning equivalent to, "When I was young and stupid, I was young and stupid."
Marshall, I could say that too only use ' old' in place of young. But your point is well taken. The person selling the 1974 cent in question has too show both sides of the cent with a reference mark showing degree of rotation. In this case, I don't think he will make a sale. Good intentions(maybe) but bad ending, again IMHO.
I sent a message to the seller asking for clarification. Here is the response: "It is slightly off center. When viewing it as you would the hands on a clock the building sits at an angle of 10 and 4."
lol I can see about -.001% off center If I enlarge the picture, Increase the magnification on my computer to 400%, and hold a loupe up to my screen. The "die rotation" in probably the same
