Hopefully they still come through. I've got 4 in subscription and have been buying the proofs for my kids. Was disappointed when we got word that there was no 2009 and elated when we first heard they would be releasing the 2010.
well i hope its only a glitch in the system. i have 5 subscriptions that i have had for 5 years now. the whole ebay thing is just crazy. i mean these people on bidding on the same presale items that we are all getting cancellation notices about. to me thats just silly. duh lets pay $150 for something thats a presale that is now possibly canceled. gotta love ebayers
I'm glad to hear that the sell out was a glitch since I put in my subscription on the day it became available. I was pretty depressed until I read this thread. I've been waiting for the ASE silver proofs for a couple of years.
Well guys, just got this e-mail from our friends at the mint..... Dear United States Mint Customer, On Wednesday, November 10, 2010, The United States Mint sent email notifications out to customers notifying them that some backordered and subscription items were canceled. This was an error. We are diligently working on a resolution to this issue. We sincerely apologize for the confusion and inconvenience this may have caused. United States Mint Customer Service Center Guess it's official......they admit that somethings screwy in "mint land".
Well a contrail over La and a BS excuse what caused it, UPS planes with exploding printer cartridges that were heading to the east coast U.S., a cruise ship that serves spam and has toliets that don't work, and now the mint sold out of proof eagles before the coins are released....mmmmmm its got to be al-Qadia! Well that was the week that was....:rollling: What next????? oh yes congress taking a pay cut.....film at 11 :hail:
Quote: "What next????? oh yes congress taking a pay cut.....flim at 11" Flim is the correct word to use. My two cents!
Hate to ruin your day but, we still another 2 days to go. Plenty of time for say,,, the west coast to fall into the ocean or the sky to fall. Just take a deep breath and relax. flim is not correct, I fixed it for him.
well there are some really smart ebayers getting overpriced proof ASE's. a bunch of people making some cash i guess:thumb: i hope i get that email. its still showing my item cancelled and no longer available
Lets see if they can fix it after the long holiday weekend Chris. Thought tomorrow was a regular workday but apparently not. Nice to know our highly valued civil servants are ever at the ready.....
When I go to the Mints website, I clicked on subscriptions. The 2010 proof Silver Eagle is not on the list to add for a subscription only the 2011 now. Also when I check upcoming products I clicked on the 2010 proof silver eagle. Under the order information it states to give everyone a fair shot at purchasing the item any orders placed prior to 11/19 will be cancelled/not honored. So it almost sounds to me like they will not honor subscriptions for the 2010 proof silver eagle, you will have to be online that day when it goes on sale to place your order 11/19 at Noon ET. And it says that they will begin fulfilling orders on 12/1. So even these expected ship dates of 11/20, 11/22, 11/24 etc... were NOT correct based on what it says on their site now.
The customer rep said they are no longer taking subscriptions for the 2010 proofs, but that they have not been cancelled. It is normal for the item page to say that early orders will not be honored, but this doesn't include subscriptions. This is there in case there is a glitch in thier website (that could never happen) that allows people to order before they go on sale. If you have subscriptions you SHOULD* be ok.
All that means is that if someone manages to "hack" into their ordering system early, the order they place will be canceled. For the life of me I don't know how it could be done though. The subscription program is the "legit" way to order early and it could free up the phone lines and put less of a strain on the web site on the day the coin goes on sale.
You just contradicted your own statement. That's 'crazy' IMO. If people "collect" them, than they warrant getting graded just as much as anything else. What's your definition of numismatic value? If people are paying premiums over melt, (which obviously is happening) than they have numismatic value, despite your angry, miss-guided opinion. Go find an '08 PF70 for "melt". Let us know how you do.
