I have a couple of PCGS 66's that don't look any better than yours. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see NGC put it in a 66 holder.

It's taken you long enough to learn how to grade.:p :D

Virtually all the submitters I know think there is no difference in grading between the normal and express levels.

Thanks for the info Leadfoot. I was just reading something about speculation that the express grading at coin shows usually render higher grades because you have to pay more.

I'm always questionable of beautiful high-end coins (IE; this one) sold by dealers that aren't slabbed.

Best of luck with it, Dutchy.

  8. I think NGC will grade it MS65 but will be hoping you get it back MS66. TC

The guy I bought it from likes to play dealer from time to time. He's basically just an old collector selling off his 50 year + collection. He likes to name the price and shop it around till he gets a bite at his price... which in this case I must have been the first one to see this lot of coins. There were other walkers and also 5 blast white monster Gettysburg commemoratives as well. I buy a lot of raw coins and submit them for grading... if you know what you are doing there isn't much to worry about.

I'm not going against the consensus here, but I will opine that they might give negative points for the obverse skirt area at the knee level. Perhaps that is simply the photography. BOL .

You have far better advice than I could give you, but I always have problems believing in coins that good. I keep hearing in my head, "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is"

By the way, that's my father's birth year.

This coin went into quality control yesterday so we will know the grade today or at the latest tomorrow.

Did you pay for STAR treatment?

I paid for the "I really want this graded quickly" treatment.

It looks like they are going to torment me until tomorrow on this coin as they haven't posted the grade... maybe they just wanted one more day to look at this beaut... hahaha!

  21. MS65+ Just kidding...I am really hoping you land a 66 on this one. :) TC
