I received the same info about two separate subscription orders I had placed for 2010 Proof ASEs. I don't care if the proofs shoot up or not, the quantity I ordered are mainly for picking a really nice couple for my long term / permanent collection. Any dogs are going back. If they are all bad looking, which I highly doubt, then they can all be sent back and I'll try another product like the 5 oz. bullion, if we ever see them. I'm not looking to (and I never advise anyone else) to play the mintage game. If I see hot action on the secondary market, I'd consider selling any others I may keep to lower my overall out-of-pocket. The price of silver has been the thing shooting up daily right now and making these coins all the more worth the price from the Mint compared to other bullion products they sell for huge mark ups like AGE, AGB and APE coins. Flipping these Proof ASEs will be way too risky with the potential high number of these minted and if the price of silver increases many will consider them bullion in the near term.
Have fun in the north country. The hunting is great around here. More people get one or two with their autos. No telling what you could do with a weapon. BTW, we have our annual coin show in Norwich this weekend. Despite the fact that we're a town of about 7,500 people, it is a pretty good show. We usually get around 25-30 dealers at the local Hojo's.
I can definitely speak to that! I unfortunately, took out a doe (and my vehicle as well) several years back on a dark, snow flurry-ish night before Thanksgiving, in upstate NY. Happens in a flash. The responding Officer asked me what I wanted to do with the deer. I'm not a hunter and neither one of us could even find the carcass in the blackened night had we wanted it, but my tag was used for the year regardless. Drive safe!
Living around here reminds me of the Ron White clip about hunting deer; you know those elusive creatures that you can only hit with a van with the horn blowing and the head lights blinking.
Check your subscription order for the ASE proofs on the Mint website. Mine says it is now cancelled! I am not alone from what I hear. What do you think is going on? TC
My expected ship date went from 11/20 to 11/25 as of yesterday, but this morning the status says "Item is no longer available." I can only hope this means my subscriptions are filled for this item for the year. I can dream that they are only going to fulfill subscription orders for the final mintage and not offer any for sale if you haven't placed a subscription order before hand.
Same here. Mine also states: Order Status: Your order request has been cancelled. I will call soon to find out what is going on. TC
Ken, you order by subscription regularly, is the status change a typical 'step' that's shown as they process orders?
Thanks, let us know if you get any word, but the phone operators are likely not going to be the best source of information. I doubt if the product was canceled, that the Mint would have briefed their direct mail phone operators with information to deflect the flood of calls this may cause.
As mentioned in another thread recently the subscription order page had been changed to 2011 Proof ASE and you may place a subscription for those. Perhaps the item no longer available status simply means the subscription for 2010 Proof ASEs are no longer available.???
I just spoke to a CS rep at the mint. I was told it is a "computer glitch" that has caused this problem. I was assured that all subscriptions will be reinstated soon and honored. Stay tuned... TC
What next? Fat finger flash crashes, Mint "glitches"...rhymes with another name for a female dog! LOL!
