This thread is very close to being closed. Either get back on topic in an appropriate manner or it will be.

I met my girlfriend (5'-4" tall and 110 pounds) almost 6 years ago on a fishing trip on one of the charter boats out of Long Beach Sportfishing.
What attracted me to her first off was the fact that she outfished every guy on the boat....except for me, and it was close....(she had a 35 pound Yellowtail and I had. 36 pounder......and I was with her when she caught her first Yellowfin tuna that was over 200 pounds...she did this without a harness or a fighting chair. She just tucked the rod butt under her arm and layed the rod on the rail and put a serious hurtin on that fish....and got it to the boat faster than all the lumberjacks who were on that 13 day trip.

Long story short....she had no idea that I collected coins, and I had no idea that she collected gold, silver, and platinum jewelry...which she continues to buy for herself.

She has almost a dozen of those long in-store display cases full of her stuff at her house.....which is fine because I have piles of coins everywhere at MY house.

In all the time we've been dating, we've never had a fight, and only raised our voices once....that's right, just once in 6 years.

    The secret to our success?

Mutual respect, mutual interests, and the ability to laugh at ourselves....because we keep our ego's in check.

She still collects, and I still collect.
She still outfishes all the guys, and I point and laugh at them.

Now....if I can only get rid of her husband I'll be doing just fine.

Guys?.....please try to remember that if she's crazy in the head, then she is crazy in bed...
    I'm just sayin.

In my opinion, it works best to be a Renaissance man. Learn to love art, music, literature, theater, cars, movies, hunting, fishing, history, etc. a little bit of everything. Coins can be a part of your life, but nothing should be all of your life and focus. Balance should be our goal in life. You learn balance and to love life in general and everything else will follow. It also helps to have a huge bucket of cash, so do really good in school, so you can have the job, the cash and the girl.

Ah, another thread that shows that this forum is going downhill. vnickels, you're 13. You're in 8th grade for goodness sake!

By the way, there was just a thread on CU about Numismatics and bachelorhood in the 40's. :goofer:

If you have to change who you are to attract a woman, she probably wasn't right for you in the first place. The right one will love you for who you are.

If a woman isn't impressed with my coin collection, I just show them my Star Wars collection. That always gets 'em. :p

hahah...you're right PoorJake....if my coin collection is not good enough for her...
I'll just show her Air Jordan/Nike SB (Sneakers) collection...my 2nd favorite thing to
collect....I'm pretty sure that will sweep her off her feet....literally....
after all...I have 147 pairs of shoes....

Yep. Although strangely I'm not a big fan of Star Wars coins.
Although some of the older ones are actually worth a decent bit of money.
