Perhaps a thread that showcases each member's single most favorite, important or biggest achieved acquisition in terms of paper for 2010, be that: a note, vignette, souvenir card, ticket, reference book added to your library, etc.
Have we missed a couple presentations? Or did I just zone out and miss them myself? I need a fix of good reading material! :hail: Dave
Here's the schedule. Appears there are as many a four that have been missed from my count... unless I their threads and the titles of the those threads didn't include any mention of SEG or SEG presentation. At this rate anyone with a finished piece who can post their work should do so if they would still like to, or as soon as you can if you are still putting the finishing touches on the work. Most of the SEG members are still on CT and would probably appreciate the reading material. Don't sweat the deadline if it has become too troublesome to complete on time. It would be nice to have those from the second half of this year who planned to present something, do so before year end. I know plenty of stuff intervenes in our lives and attention can go astray with those distractions. I certainly have been slow to decide what my own 'TBD' topic will be... I may end up having to talk about "Three Dollar Bills" after all. LOL! Having lost the two founding members of this group and their withdraw from CT has left a certain void in the Paper Money threads sadly. It would be nice to continue on in their honor but again, no pressure if anyone cannot fulfill their slot at this time. I believe also that we were waiting on a brief article from vnickels that never materialized. (Correct me if I'm wrong) RickieB had requested when new members joined after the new member entry phase, that they submit an 'article' of some kind. This was in addition to the reason they sent us that they wanted to join the SEG. The articles were not to be a full presentations but we also do not have an established 'form' that articles might take so it's free-form I suppose. We'll have to see what creative minds our newest members possess and can enlighten us with. Any work that can be shared under the guise of the SEG group is much appreciated but I also understand if those who've skipped haven't been able to fulfill their topics. Thanks for the efforts that have been done to date and in advance for any that are yet to come.
This is a group of folks interested a bit deeper than just looking at banknotes, that writes short-to-medium length articles about them. We're on a schedule (I say that loosely ) to each write an article once a year or so, on whatever topic floats our boat. Anyone is welcome to join up, we're always looking for folks with the interest in writing up an article. Anyone is welcome to post a note declaring their interest, and grab a date (Krispy coordinates the calendar) that allows you the time to write it up. If you want to see past articles, do a search in this paper money group for "security engraver" and you'll call up a bunch of them. Dave
appreciate the answer. i am no good at writting anything to be honest.plus i have no real good understanding on paper bills.i could never write anything about them except that they spend well on lifes needs. i have a few coins i have started collecting and no paper bills except whats in my ole wallet. reading these forums has shined a light on paper bills for me but i am not well read about them to buy them. why would i spend money on money? it is just crazy to me. jfa
You might read some of the articles, then, it'll help you gain some of that understanding you're looking for! Dave
Justis4All: Hang around the Paper Money forums a while, currency becomes very addictive. Lots of fun reading and the SEG presentations have been very good. Here are some threads from th Security Engravers Group (SEG) Presentations: SEG Presentation links (from 2009 and first half of 2010)
Well, here we are in 2013 and I've seen no new posts on these threads from the Security Engravers Group for more than two years. I'm wondering if it's time to take them down as stickies. Rick, is there a way to keep the thread intact but remove the "sticky" status? I'd love to see some new SEG presentations but there doesn't seem to be a lot of interest. Anyone else have an opinion?
I noticed that user does not have a "last activity" field on their profile, that usually occurs when a user gets banned. I'm not gonna ask what happened to said user, because this was before my time on here, but I doubt nothing else will come from this.
That is a good question... if you recall I started these a while back when I was healthy...my how times have changed. Connor1 is now deceased, I have not heard from Krispy in a long while...I am reluctant is re-statring these as my illness has cost me my job, health, collection and I am not sure how I truly feel about it any longer. I suppose you could email Peter and ask that he remove them... I wish I had better news for you.. Regretfully, Rick
