I am trying to find a source to purchase this coin. It is a 3 rubles Silver "investment" coin issued by the Central Bank of Russia. I have located it along with the statistics at www.cbr.ru but the site does not have ordering informantion. I sent an e-mail to Bank in hopes of being able to purchase direct from them. Also available in a gold 50 rubles.

I scaned an image from the site. What are your thoughts. I think it is a beautiful coin.

    Found him at last

Arrived last night. After a long search, I got him in my hands. Took a quick photo this morning and putting him to bed with the rest of my World silver bullion coins.

Thanks, I felt very excited until I showed to the wife. She gave me that " I need a new pair of shoes" look. Next on the block is a nice example of an 8 Reales , Pillar Dollar. One without a million chop marks, or so salt water corroded you can't ID, without having to get a stimulus loan. There has to be one out there with my name on it.

very nice, but the wyrm seems a bit small, you'd think St. George would've picked on someone his own size ;)

Rather a lovely looking coin, and quite a story behind it from a fairly ordinery Turkish soldier to a saint (and a popular one at that LOL)

British sovereigns show George facing a much more formidable dragon than this one lol...

    Still a nice coin though.

Maybe this particular design is based upon some old painting or relief, dunno. Both the city of Moscow and the Russian Federation use the horseman-and-dragon on the CoA. By the way, the scene can also be found on Russian (1, 5, 10, 50 kopeks) circulation coins. Not as nice and elaborate as on this piece here though ...

St. George also appears on this British Conder Token, dated 1796.

Little bit of info on his popularity from Wiki LOL

  15. Other than ebay, does anyone know where to buy the 2010 St. George the Victorious?

    Thanks,

I don't think they make them every year.
