My 7 year old grandaughter who loves to look at coins with grandpa whenever she comes to visit, has taken a great liking to Franklin halves. So she is coming to visit at christmas time so I was putting together a low grade set for her to take home and add to her collection. I was buying them off of Ebay and getting them for good prices and was just about finished I bought 6 coins over a 2 week period and thought I was done. The 1953 showed up as a 1963, the 1951-S showed up as a 1954-S, and the 1949-S,1949-D,1948-D, and 1953-D are currently lost somewhere in cyberspace. In over 250 buys on Ebay I have had almost zero problems and in 2 weeks I go from having a set finished to being 6 short!!!! I think there is a curse on her Franklin collection!!!!:eek:

Love how these two guys are completely oblivious. No offense meant guys, love y'all ;)

On a serious note, contact the seller and then eBay buyer protection.

Yes, coinshop.com has some great Franklins at very reasonable prices and I have always been very pleased with the quality of the coins I have purchased.

I pretty much got the impression on the 4 that are missing from the one seller, that I needed to wait 30 days before openning a case? Is this the way it works. My opinion is that the fact that he says he sent 2 on Oct. 14 & 2 on Oct. 15, and niether package has shown up, is that they are not coming. So I am hustling to try and replace, lil more expensive with silver at 26.00!!!:eek:

I think you may want to check into this some more. As far as I know you only have 45 days to make a claim. Contact the seller again, but before you lose out on your buyer protection, file a claim.

You should be able to open a case, I forget what the exact time frame is but it's not 30days! It's only the beginning of November so you have more time to work this out for certain. Also, I got one ebay package around a month after I got a refund. Sometimes things happen with the mail that have nothing to do with the seller or buyer. Good luck in giving your grandaughter something she will cherish for many years to come and possibly a life time of memories. WTG!!

Can't say much about Ebay, but I like starting kids off with Franklins. They are nice and big and shiney and not bank busting expensives. I started my daughter with Franklin AU's.

I would leave a lot of blanks in the album and let her take an active role in searching out coins to fill in. Lots of skills there searching auction sites, ads etc. readin writin and rithmetic skills. If she decides they are attractive enough maybe she will find ways (with grandfathers help) to earn the price of the coin she helped locate. Odd jobs to help mother or grandpa.

    PayPal also offers buyers protection!

Still think contacting buyer is best way to go first!

Thanks for the input everyone, now I have a new question. I have never had to due the refund thing before, but on the coin where I bought a 1953 and was sent a 1963 the original cost of the coin was 7.00 + 2.50 S&H. I spent another 1.00 + sending it back. I just got a refund for the 7.00, is that how its usually done. I got the wrong coin & paid shipping both ways!!!

Go ahead and file a claim, the onus is on the seller to make sure you get the coins, not the other way around. You have to protect yourself, as you have a limited amount of time to file. It amazes me the amount of packages that get "lost" when they come from eBay sellers, lol. After you file, you will have to wait 7 days. If the items havent come by then, you will escalate it the claim and ebay gives the seller 72hrs to make it right or you get your money back. I just had to go thru this myself, only reason I know about it.

If you got the correct coin and wasn't happy with it I would say yes you would be responsible for paying shipping both ways. Since the seller sent you a coin with a different date then described I think the seller should pay you back for the coin and the shipping cost charged to you at the very least.

I'm pretty sure the new ebay policy is that the seller is required to refund shipping charges also. You will be out the return shipping, but it was only $1.00. Most ebayers are pretty good about making transactions right, and ebay has been very responsive on the one claim I had to make in the four years I've been using it.

That is exactly right. It also gives dad a good reason to bring the children to the coin show, so they can look around for themselves and then they learn more

Your seller is lying. I went through this already this summer with a touch screen receiver for my car. Ebay makes you wait 7 days and you can open a case. If you wait too long, you won't be able to open a case.

Ebay refunded my money. The beauty of it was they didn't take back the ebay bucks earned.
