Man, you certainly pull quite a few of these out of circulation! This one's quite cool, very obvious compared to some of those different S/N varieties. Do you think Canada just has a loose quality control system? I very rarely see this kind of stuff from France, for example.

I don't know what it is, Dave. According to my other collector buddies (here in Canada), I have horseshoes up my you-know-what.:D

Some of them have never found any type of error in all the years they've been collecting. It may be that I'm looking more closely for errors than they are or I'm just very, very lucky.

I only check my change and search the deposit at work. This is where all these errors come from. I'd like to buy new stacks from the bank but most of the local banks don't seem to get new bundles in very often, so it wouldn't be any different from me searching the money at work.

As for quality control, that may be the case. The technology may be wearing out and they may be hesitant to replace it because we are switching over to polymer notes late next year (2011).

While I'd love to find some of these errors, I'm not willing to try that technique... :D

    Interesting theory!

Wow, great find! I remember seeing your mismatched serials last year and you've had me searching every bill I can get my hands on lol. I actually just recently found a mismatched $20 last month! Man you are very lucky to find all these! Keep up the searching!

I am a new collector and this kind of stuff is cool. I did not know that Canada was moving to polymer, I have some friends over there now, so I should ask them to send me some current stuff and then get some more when they go polymer.

Roughly $250 and up. If you find the right buyer, it could go quite a bit higher. My first one went for $500. Right buyer, right time.

I've kept all my other notes.

    Nice find!!!

i just dont get how any of those could happen. especially the mis matches. and uh whats polymer? if its what i think, will the cashier now say "how are you paying...plastic, or plastic?"

Yes Ploymer is "plastic". They use it in Australia, New Zealand and other countries. I like that plastic or plastic !!! :)

Human error. The numbers are are manually set for each series. If the operator enters the wrong numbers and doesn't catch his mistake, mismatches occur until they are corrected.

In the case of the note with the upside-down numbers, the paper was fed in the wrong way. It may have been one sheet or an entire stack.

Plastic money? Is nothing sacred? I won't be able to make airplanes out of the bills that I drop into the collection plate at church anymore.

That will also make it difficult to rip a $20 in half and say, "You'll get the other half when you've done what I've asked."

You'll have to use a great big knife to chop your notes in half in the future if that's something you find yourself doing often. :D
