    Wow, a Barber Quarter. CONGRATS!!

I got skunked again on my 2nd box of halves over the weekend. It's just not very productive doing boxes in Houston anymore. I did 3 last week, but will go back down to 1 (or 2 if I'm bored)....

Bobbeth, I can commiserate. Have to vent a little, been through 4 boxes in the past 2 weeks, and $450 loose/CWR from like 8 different banks.... small, rodent-like, white and black stripes, smells weird.

I found 2 silver dimes today out of $200 and snagged one out of the teller tray and a real nice 1936-S buffalo nickel that a teller saved for me

Out of $80 in halfs today I ended up with 6 90% and 20 40% not bad at all!

Found a 1960 dime today, as well as several 2010 D dimes. Not too bad considering I only searched two rolls. Also picked up a roll of quarters and finally found the last two quarters I needed to complete my state quarter P/D set!!

2002+ is NIFC... 2001's were intended for circ.

3 40%'s from some tellers at a bank I was picking up change for work at... also got 1 silver dime.

Sorry, this is incorrect. 2001-P's were NIFC, only D's were intended for circ that year. 02-04, and 06-10 are all NIFC, both business strike mints.

Did another $40 of nickels today, filled a couple more holes, and pulled an F-12 1930 Buff.

I sure find a lot of 2001 P halves in my area. Looks like they circulate to me.

It sounds like I'm the only one who can't find Kennedy rolls!

I started hitting banks for halves a few months ago, and I'm hooked. It's just a shame I can't find more of them. I always clean them out, but rarely get many in one place.

At a couple of banks, I got maybe $5 or $10 worth, all clad. I figured the tellers were checking them as they came in, and I haven't gone back.

At another bank, I got about $10 worth, and I believe 8 of them were 40%. I go back there regularly, but lately they have none at all.

At the bank where I have my checking, my first check yielded a roll or so, with I think two or three 40%'ers. Next time I went back, the teller said she only had four, and passed them to me -- 1953, 1942, 1941, and a dateless Walker! That was the end of my luck there, though -- on the next few trips there were none, and when I got into a conversation with one of the tellers, it became clear that he was keeping his own eyes open for silver. Not sure whether he knew about the 40% years, though.

Just this week, I visited a local grocery during the quiet early hours, and asked the manager if there were any in the safe. She came back with $9 worth, which she seemed glad to be rid of. 9 clad, 8 40%, and one nice 1964. :hail:

I'm wondering if all the folks dumping into CoinStars, and taking rejects to the customer-service counter, are replenishing silver in circulation. But that's probably a topic for another thread...

    jeffB,

If you have a bank you've done business with a while, ask them if they'd be willing to order you a box or two every week, month, whatever.

Some will, some won't...depends on policies, costs, fees, etc.

But hey...all they can do is say "no", right? :)

Why don't we ask him where he is, first?

Some areas are completely bone dry.

Durham, NC. And comparing what I've seen so far to what others have reported in this thread, it looks like we're actually still quite soggy. :)

I'm wondering if I'm catching a high proportion of CoinStar rejects. I should start asking around other grocery stores that have them. One customer-service person I spoke to said that when people bring them coins that CoinStar won't accept, they put them straight into the till. It's almost enough to make me want to apply for a job there...

Picking up my weekly box of halves tomorrow. :)

In the mean time, nickels have been oddly good to me of late. Found a 43S silver today, along with filling another hole in the set.
