Ruben, the link doesn't work. When clicked it want's us to install Hebrew language characters. If we refuse to do that then we get the message that the page is missing.

But you walking a fine line here even with the title of your thread. Yes it's real and yes it happened. But anti-semitism is not a subject for discussion on this forum.

Mind your Ps & Qs my friend.

I don't know, it is bizarre - but the coin is from a storefront and the title of the section is

    Online Price-list: Anti-Semitic & Related Medallic Judaica

    The specific example is:

The write up for the coin is as follows:

Germany: Anti-Semitic "Why We Fight" ("Wofür Kämpfen Unsere Feinde") medal, 1939; struck in zinc; no artist/maker mark; size: 40.5mm, weight: 21.15g.

Obverse depicts German soldier above industrial and agricultural workers, and legend around edge, "GROSSDEUTSCHLAND KÄMPFT FÜR DEN FRIEDEN GEGEN DEN SCHANDVERTRAG VON VERSAILLES" ("Greater Germany fights for Peace against the Shame-Treaty of Versailles") with date national (Nazi) emblem.

On reverse, a large caricatured "Jewish" figure with Star of David, with flames behind him and images of money and weaponry before him, with legend below "WOFÜR KÄMPFEN UNSERE FEINDE" ("For What do our Enemies Fight"). Relatively thick planchet, plain rim.

Of interest is the use of a Wehrmacht (German military) figure rather than an SS soldier: though the Waffen-SS did not figure prominently in the battlefield in the early years of the Second World War, it and not the Wehrmacht is popularly seen as the propagator of open anti-Semitism (though photographic and documentary evidence after the War showed the military was just as involved in the extermination of Jews during the war as the SS). In UNC; Kirschner Nr. 49, pg. 83.

    Item Code: 0130347 Price: $600

and I know EXACTLY what your talking about here Doug, and I see no reason why we have to discuss anti-semetism here outside of the subject matter and design of this authentic Nazi Era Coin.

BTW - that site has 61 coins and state sponsored medals on repeating this theme, mostly from German, but also from around the rest of the world, evidently a common enough theme, of which the earliest seems to be from 1672. They all seem to sell for a heafty premium.

Interesting that the '£' symbol is used on the bag of money there. A reference to London being considered the world's financial centre at the time?

still is, really. It might also be a vague reference to the Rothchilds who were largely centered in London at that time.

Some black people collect racist items from pre-civil rights era, some Jews collect antisemitic items from Nazi Germany and elsewhere. Interest in such items does not denote agreement with their sentiments.

Hi I noticed this thread and thought everyone would like to know that the mail bid auction house Tel Aviv Stamps in Israel (http://telavivstamps.com/), has an example of this medal (lot 857), with an opening bid price of $180. The auction ends December 12, 2012.

Interesting thread. Here is some kind of medal / award for an archery competition I believe. It was purchased with a lot of Third Reich coins. It's made from zinc.

Well, if you ever need help with Hebrew (and I've been itching to tell people this) for anything PM me!
I have a (jewish) distantly removed cousin who collects (or hoards) anti-semetic items from nazi Germany because he thinks it's so cool that his ancestors survived that. (He was jumping with joy when he found out I collected coins, he has plenty)
