What is the most expensive coin you ever purchased. For me it was 1935 Peace Dollar MS63 slabbed by PCGS for $127 from L&C Coins and 1921 Peace Dollar F for $120 at the Rochester MN Winter Show in 2008.

I think someone is already running a thread like this, but my most expenisve COIN purchase was an 1886-S $5 Gold, NGC AU-58 for $260 when gold was lower (the day the Behjing Olympics started in July '08). I sold it 5 days later because gold peaked up quite a bit.

I dropped $125 on the 1921 Peace dollar a few years ago. I'm hoping to get the 1913 V-nickel, or possibly the 1933 double eagle next...

    That would be this one.

That would be this one. Cost me $1300 from Fleabay last November. $0 to have graded, I had a coupon.

    I bought a 2009 .99999 Gold Buffalo PCGS MS-69 for $1200 last year at the S.F Mint's 1st coin show.
    I can't complain now.

I can't recall which was more expensive -- either a toned 1936 matte proof buff or a chain cent. I remember thinking when I bought both that it was an awful lot to spend on a coin. Thankfully I have not lived to regret either one -- to the contrary they are my two favorite coins. When/if it comes time to sell, I think I'll do better on the chain cent than the buff, but time will tell, maybe.

    Maybe if someone just:
    1. Purchased a Brasher Doubloon or a similar celebrity
    2. Posted their address on this board

By the way, in 1964 I sent $50 to a coin dealer for a
    1927 $20.
That was a lot of money back then.

    :)

I have an old '65 Red Book and it values a 1927 $20 at $85!

To those who are gonna mess with me for saying that I should use the Grey Sheet:
Who would even keep a 1964 Grey Sheet? :D
