If that was the hit it's not that big and in a spot that doesn't show very much. Plus the fact of the toning does cover some of it. As for the scratch on the case...who knows.
wOW! i CHECKED THAT DIME OUT- A BEAUTY! dO YOU MIND ME ASKING WHAT THE DEALER OFFERED? i ASK CUZ i'm new, and love those "Grandma Dimes".... I have almost exact!!! Well what do you know, coin is for sale once again. Seems to me like I wasn't the only that has a major issue with the scratch. Im half tempted to buy it again. But I know that would just lead to me selling it again LOL
That doesn't look like a scratch to me. More like a hit. As for if the coin should grade 67 or not, it is a possibility that PCGS gave it a grade bump for the color. So while technically it may not be a 67, it should be valued (according to PCGS) in line with other 67s. Remember, PCGS (and NGC ) don't really grade coins to a standard, per-se, they value or rank them.
One version Maybe the guy was unlocking his car door when his cell phone rang. He took out the coin to look at is and brag to the caller. Then, he became distracted, sat the slab on the roof of the car. Drove off. Realized what he did. Spends half the day looking for it. Amazingly, he finds the slab. The slab has evidence of being driven over and tossed into the wheel. ......scratches, dirt, dust, .... After this nighmare, I can sort of see the fellow putting it up for sale again.
Its a scratch...95% positive it was a staple mishap that was toned over. by the way the coin is in a NGC slab
Even though it appears that your CAC sticker may be legitimate, I'm sure that counterfeits will be coming soon! After all, how difficult can it be to fake a CAC sticker?
