It looks an close to the last one that sold on heritage for $1897. Considering you have it listed for $2200 it seems like all the ranges are covered - so 1951. Which would give you about a 10% profit. And yes I have you site book marked and I always search heritage. It almost does not seem fair dping it this way - but if it is the heritage coin, then their pictures suck. I also don't know much about 3c coins either.
We have a winner. And thanks to the other Mark for being a good sport and not making a winning guess, knowing where the coin came from. I paid $1897, or roughly only a 5% premium. As has been mentioned, certain coins are less likely to carry large color premiums than others. And, while pretty, the color on this coin is not out of this world or especially uncommon for the type. Dimefreak, the floor (or, more accurately, the thread) is yours.
Mark - your pictures make this coin look great versus the pictures on heritage. Reverse marks on the holder and the spots on the coin are what showed it. The other problem I have is not knowing the toned market - so I regularly search prices on heritage and to compare coins. Just so happens a pr66 was first - I can't believe it was the same coin.
Okay - I won't do any research and just say $90. I don't even know what a normal dime costs at this grade.
Yes, their images sucked. As a bidder, I love that, and as a consignor, I hate it, when that happens. Hopefully, after their upcoming auction, I will have a new auction win that will serve as an even more extreme example. I put in a very strong bid on an amazing looking coin that imaged horribly.
I don't know the wholesale price on the roosevelts but I will guess $340 which is 5x fmv and I would guess 8X dealer
That's not being a poor sport. My sincere apologies for having blown it. I will try to make it up to you - if I win a guess on something soon, you get my posting rights for the next coin. Again, my apologies,
Thanks.. No hard feeling. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't invisible The thread is definately fun and educational.
