Why thank you, Mike, and I most certainly am not going to take the allotted 24 hours to make a selection:devil: Below is a coin I bought fairly recently, an NGC/CAC PR66 Three Cent Silver. For purposes of this discussion and your guesses as to what I paid, I think that the sight-unseen bid was approximately $1800 when I acquired it. The first person to guess within $50 of what I paid is the "winner" and gets to select the next coin to post. Let the guessing begin.
Nice coin Mark, my guess is $2500. Which is somewhere between 1.25 and 1.50 X Bid, I no nothing about 3 cent pieces, so I don't know how toning affects price, but I went with a lower premium, because usually the higher the price of a coin the smaller the premiums are for toning.
I really know nothing about 3CN's, but knowing your penchant for supernice coins, I'll guess $3150. Chris
Although the coin is attractive, nothing about it strikes me as that uncommon for the issue. Proof coins from this era are often found with this toning scheme and I imaging that the premium driven by the toning is minimal. I guess $2,065
I'll up my guess to $1,540.00 Now I'm guessing what I did on the presumption you purchased this as a " Dealer " .
I don't know if I should feel flattered, or deeply insulted, that more than one of you guessed I paid a price which was below the sight-unseen bid for the coin.
