This Austria 1908 Silver 5 Corona is presented as XF. Kraus states the weight as 24 grams exactly and diameter 35mm, while the owner of this coin states 24.06 grams and 36mm. What do you think, please?
Update: the owner says that "Have two other 1908s that measure same diameter. May be Krause's error; book's far from infallible." Opinions would be appreciated. TIA Glyn, Tokyo
I didn't bid. The price looked good but I'm feeling paranoid about silver coins these days. When he put the onus on Kraus and said that he had two more of the same coin, I decided that I wouldn't take the risk. Added to that, the seller bought a fake silver one yen the other day. When I mentioned it to him he didn't seem particularly concerned about it and said that it was the correct weight. These days, some fake one yen are the correct weight. Anyway, it's a good looking coin, so I hope it's all correct and that the buyer is happy.
hm,shouldn't be larger for a 1mm! but, according to pics you gave it looks like genuine to me. beautifull piece with nice toning.
