Because no country is trying to use the horrors of Stalin's rule to justify its existence.

I have a collection of old shot from the "War Between The States" era.

It never occurred to me that the bullets might be Bad.

I assumed the same about the coins and objects like them.

Being free to feel different is not for everyone, I guess.

WWII coins, no matter origin, are just a part of that history. What did they do wrong?

A item is nether good or bad it is just what we make it out to be, If a coin collector collects world coins and adds a few from the Nazi era to his collection, i see nothing wrong with that.. but if a punk neo Nazi buys one to get "off" on some sick connection with Nazi Germany then i would take offense to that.

The things Stalin did makes the Holocaust look like a miner incident in comparison...

I refuse to collect coins from Mongolia until their
government apologizes for the war crimes committed
    under Ghengiz Khan.

As for the silver content - what is the big deal? If a collector focuses on World War 2 coins because of their "interesting" background, an aluminum or zinc coin has about the same significance. Now if you say you want them because of the silver, doesn't that mean you are ultimately willing to give the coins away and have them melted? Talk about destruction ... ;)

    I have a question.
Why are we judging money by its creators actions?
Do we hate a piece of art just because the person who made it was a murderer or crazy?
Every government has to have money, whether they are a communist or capitalist. Its not their fault. Without money they can't do anything.
I consider coins important pieces of history and (in some cases) beautiful works of art. I will not judge Germany just because they had Hitler. I only have a couple Nazi coins and I haven't bought any, but if I ever had the opportunity I might, simply because that is an important piece of history. I personally know someone who was in Germany during WWII. She was a Jew and was rescued by an American Soldier. He recently died and I have one of his dog tags (well, I gave it to my little sister b/c he was her adopted grandpa but its still in the family). If we throw away the history, people may very well begin to think it didn't happen (some already do).
So to those of you who throw them away: send them to me. I will keep these pieces of history until they are appreciated more. I am tired of seeing these threads where people bash countries and currencies because of things that happened 60 years ago.

Also (and please don't lash at me for this or even reply b/c its my opinion and no, I am not in the military) but mmrota: if the American people couldn't vote, you would have nothing to fight for.

    Thanks,
    Tyler

But are you offended at the coin, or with the punk?

That is exactly my point. Thank you Conder. :) That is a good example of what I was trying to say.

Because it is a government that picks a design and then issues a coin, not some individual artist. Coins carry and "transport" a message about those who issue them, or to put it negatively, they are basically propaganda pieces. The primary difference between a democratic and a dictatorial regime is that the former will try and find designs that do not represent the views of one single political "camp" only.
