005.JPG This is only my third maybe fourth time I've signed onto Cointalk...I love the site but not really sure how to involve myself. Coin collecting is still a new hobby for me. I do want to share a quick story that happened to me a few weeks ago.

I work in a pharmacy as a technician...went out to help a patient/customer and she

Welcome to CT. And silver quarters are always nice pieces to find in circulation. I remember finding a few in rolls before.

Update: This thread is NOW about finishing DEBZZ story

I work in a pharmacy as a technician...went out to help a patient/customer and she

exploded, leaving behind nothing but a few silver quarters and residual people-dust. Needless to say I snatched up the quarters, did a backflip out the window, and drove straight home.

....she wasn't home but her door was unlocked and so I rummaged through her medicine cabinet and found her stash of silver quarters hidden in pill bottles. I left her two Valium to help with the shock of the break-in.

Yup, that's more realistic! :D I guess the girl must have spaced out or thought she finished the story. Well if she ever comes back maybe she'll finish it.

In the meantime, why not contribute by imparting some of your own creativity with us? Also, you may be erroneously assuming the OP is a girl... it was never really clarified and with the internet it's best to assume it's a dude. lol

I think the customer was an elderly lady who was using her late husband's stash to pay for her meds. She may have been offered less than face for them because they were "old and used up" coins, so she spent them instead ?

    and she...

Had a clogged toilet. Clogged with silver quarters she ate when she was a child and had just now pooped out, 45 years later.

Sorry about that...She knew the coins were silver but was broke and needed her medication...I told her the quarters ($4.50) were worth more because of the silver. She had no interest in what I was saying...so the rest of the story is...I bought them!!

Easy to get involved - pick up a book or two on collecting from change and away you go. Well - a red book also. It is a fun hobby and you can do it from pocket change if you want. So first keep all silver and wheaties - enjoy and learn as you go along.

    The lady was desperate?

I'd have bought 'em off her for 10x face and considered it a great deal, while helping her out a lot.

She was a young lady, around 20yrs of age. Desperate for her meds...yes. I told her about them being silver but like I said had no interest in that, sort of just blew it off. The first thing that actually came to my mind was that she might have stole them from a family member. Could be why she didnt want to discuss them being silver.
