The things dreams are made of. Congrats on that kind of haul. Always nice to make 1500 bucks just for driving to the bank

    Thanks! :)

By all means! I certainly didn't invent it! :too-funny:

I suspect (though, I must admit, i haven't "tested" this theory) that it works best with a local bank that you've done business with for a while. But hey, can't hurt to try elsewhere. :)

Yep...that's the beauty of it. Sorta like the "call me" idea...what have you got to lose? Nadda. :)

Admittedly...I'd need a heck of a lot better hit rate than that to watch the Yankees. ;)

Indeed, indeed. And thanks, but not sure I deserve any "congrats"..not real hard to pick silver coins out of rolls someone hands you! *lol*

I finally found a national park quarter in my change the other day. Yosemite. Still haven't found a Northern Marianas.

gboulton: WOW!. Congrats. I've never come close to a find like that, how thrilling for you!!!

I picked up one box and $19 in loose today. 1 40%er in the loose and in the box, 1 40%er and one 1964, plus an AU 1987.

Not bad (compared to recent box finds in my area).

    Started on the cents I got in Monterey. 1 1980 Canadian, 1-1949 S Wheat, 1 - 1956 D Wheat, 1 - 1956 S Wheat. A couple dozen pre 1982. For the first 5 rolls. Also tossed out a few for second looks.

Got a nice surprise at a chase today. They had 11.50 in loose halves. $9.00 of which turned out to be 40%.

Asked for halves at another bank and the teller held up her tray..... until she realized there were a few silver ones there (prob 2.50) then she put it back down. I naturally asked for those but suddenly "there were unavailable". Annoying to say the least but I was still in a decent mood from my Chase score.

Yes it was. Kinda score you dream about, but never expect to happen. Roll searching's going to be very disappointing for a while, I fear! *lol*

    Sweet!!!!!

    Good grief.

Ya know...coins are, for a bank, like any other product any retail establishment offers. Either offer them for sale, and complete the sale under the agreed terms, or don't.

What that teller did was no less unprofessional than if you'd gotten to the checkout at Wal Mart, and after scanning your item and telling you the total, had the checker say "Oh wow! An X-Box! This is the last one we have, so I'm keeping it, you can't have it, sorry"

I mean...I get it...finding silver is cool! But it doesn't excuse rudeness.

I think the teller should have checked the tray and purchased the Silver the minute it came it or at least set it aside for her favorite customer or whoever. It's going to get really rough when all the bank employees start searching also. Thankfully, my favorite teller doesn't seem to care except to be happy with my finds. She often asks me about coins she has and I try to answer.

But Cents are still my main thing, so maybe I am not in competition ?

Picked up four boxes of halves today, nothing.

I'm positive there's just no silver left in half dollars around my area. I'll stick to pulling it out of rolls while I'm working.

Searched a years worth of pocket change found 10 wheat pennies... I know to most of you thats nothing, but made the hour worth of searching worth it for this new coin collector:D. Oldest was 1936 I believe. Had two 1955, but no double strikes.

Went threw a box of pennies the other day and found 16 wheat pennies(oldest being a 1918 D which I needed for my set, also found a 1952 S which I needed for my set as well). Along with those I keep all the pre 1982's which I found a little over 650 of those.

I bought another box of halves on Saturday and got skunked.

    Interesting statistics:

Erin and I have noticed that boxes in our area are not producing. Here are my stats to back it up.

My last 65 boxes, I have averaged 1.71 silver coins per box
The previous 150 boxes, I averaged 3.85 silver coins per box

My last 65 boxes, I have averaged 1.71 silver coins per box
The previous 65 boxes, I averaged 4.57 silver coins per box
The 65 boxes previous to that averaged 2.71 sliver coins per box

My last 107 boxes, I averaged 2.28 silver coins per box
My first 108 boxes, I averaged 4.15 silver coins per box

    File this under "interesting...."

I'd imagine that's what happens when you're getting the silver before it goes into circulation... or boxes, pretty much.
