A friend found this while roll searching. Above "trust" on the rim is the top of the letters "trust". All of the letters are visible but get weaker as it progresses from the "T" to the last "T". I'm thinking the die kissed the rim before landing. It is also a MAD about 10% cw.
I saw an artical in coin world about a very similer cent the experts debated with no definate conclusion. still a nice pick.
Are the letters raised or incuse(indented)? From the images it looks as if they are incuse, which means that someone merely impressed another Cent onto this one. A micro hammer-job so to speak.
The letters are incuse and yes someone could probably do a hammer job to produce that image although I don't think so. My reasoning is simply why would they? One thing interesting to me is the imprints are about as far clockwise from the word TRUST as the coin is misaligned. Lets just say hypothetically that someone didn't do it.....what else would cause it?
Honestly there is nothing in the minting process that would do that. It may not have been intentional, but at some point that Lincoln was pressed very hard against another Cent.
I can't get the images to enlarge on the computer I'm currently on, but they did look backwards to me. To me it looks like the top of a backwards "S" above the R and it looks like the top of a backwards "R" above the S.
I looked at the coin looking for a backward impression and it is not backwards. The "R" is seen clearly and it is as it should be. Hopefully my skills at taking images of coins will improve with time.
It looks to me like the letters are reversed..the mark obove the S looks more like the top of the R and vice versa just my opinion.
Same with me. Even after getting home and being able to enlarge the photos, it still looks like the top part of a backward S above the R and the top part of a backward R above the S.
It may just be the photo and the shadowing, but this is what it looks like to me, which is clearly TRUST backwards.
thought it was cool but hmmm.... we really need a better close up with no felt marker. id like to say he has something, so need to ask. there is no way the coin could have bounced out and struck the die... or something? however i see no additional marking beyond the "felt marker"
I will get the coin back maybe tomorrow and see if I can't get a better image but I am sure the "trust" is not backwards. If my friend is willing it may be sent to Mike Diamond if he is interested. I just love this hobby.

This coin is not an intentional squeeze job but a squeeze job all the same. Two coins facing obverse to obverse and rolled very tightly. Possibly caused by someone banging a roll on their table top to get the roll even tighter.
I'm gonna go back and get the coin from my buddy and put it under my micro-scope and get a real close look at it. Should'a done that to begin with but after taking pics I was ready to lay back a bit....happens when we get old I spose. If I can't get it figured out I'll contact you Mike.
After further review it is pmd. The letters are indeed backwards nice call jallengomez. Problem solved now on to the next one.....another roll to open.
