She said she found this while cleaning out some old boxes. I have absolutely no idea about this currency. What can any of you tell about what I have hear? Thanks! :smile
The Bank of the United States Note is a well known forgery - The serial number gives it away, but it can be checked online. I checked at http://www.crutchwilliams.com/BogusCSA_RoTx.html and it was listed. - sorry about that. THe other notes seem to be real though. I do not know about the Thai note, but I have the two paraguay notes. I paid about $10 for the 5 Pesos and about 22 for the 100 Pesos both in Uncirculated condition (if I remember right).
Amazing find! I guess you have figured that the bills you have are not on that list, well at least that beautiful $1000 isn't listed. Anyways, here's a link and your $1000 looks great. Someone will be around tomorrow. WTG!! http://www.frbsf.org/currency/expansion/banks/s21.html
Yeah I caught that part! It's still nice tho, not everyone has a counterfeit bill that was made from that time period, so it's still nice to have.
Pretty much what I figured, the $1000 just didn't feel right for the "age". I had a feeling it was a reproduction. The paraguay notes are definately MS, they are very crisp. Thanks for the info on the other notes.
Thad, When I read the letter, it sure looked like some early psishing. Sending some virtually valueless notes hoping for a payment of some sort in return. My dad used to get business pen & pencil sets, give away gifts, etc in the same manner. However, this looks like it is quite a find for you. Even the forged US note likely has some value as a "forgery" ? Cool find ! Does your aunt need any more relatives ? gary
