I know a lot of you guys use eBay a lot, so I thought I would ask about this problem here. I sold some used books and a bit of Silver recently, which was my first activity in a few weeks. When I tried to print the shipping labels there was a new method in place. eBay gave me a page to calculate the shipping instead of sending me to PayPal. Well, I followed the instructions. Entered the data, etc and the site sent the info to my printer to print the label. My printer froze. I tried unplugging it and starting anew. Again it froze. I played with it and tried about every solution I could think of, but no dice. Finally, cancelled the purchase of the shipping. Next I tried to print from a file, which went as is should. So I tried another shipping label for a different item. Same freeze problem. Still no fix. Cancelled again. I gave it up and took everything to the Post Office and bought the shipping over the counter. Something which, due to my transportation situation (not driving for meical reasons) can be problematic. Have any of you experienced the same problem ? And, if so, what did you do to fix it ? I have other items to ship and this isn't working well at all. Thanks, gary
My first time using the shipping label function, it screwed up on me and I was charged twice by paypal. I phoned them to get a refund because I never did get labels printed and they told me I had to go to Canada Post with the information. At Canada Post, I was told I had to collect from paypal. By that time the 24 hours had expired and I wasn't entitled to get a refund. I spoke to a rep from paypal and they insisted it was the post office's problem because the postage had already been paid. I couldn't get any satisfaction from either. I had to eat $16 in shipping costs. That was the last time I used it. Now I go directly to the post office and get them to make the labels for me.
eBay has got other new problems at the moment. The one I keep encountering is an eBay error message when I try to log in anywhere else except the initial page.
I admit, I didn't try to print a test label. I have in the past, but it's mainly to check the size to see if it fits the package. I mean I got to my print screen, but froze at that point. It did print the first label of the 3 times I tried after I unplugged the printer and plugged it back in. Whatever it did, I could not delete the items in the queue. Now I need a priority mail stamp for a medium sized box and am afraid to try it. I don't want to end up paying twice for the shipping. lol
This happen to me three times yesterday in Paypal around 7:30 am central time. The message kept telling me the USPS system was off line. It still took my payment from my paypal account so I had to request refunds.
I requested refunds also. But it said it could take 21 days for the Post Office to approve them. I am assuming those are "Business Days" ? That's a month ! Hate to do that, but somehow need to get the postage Without going to the Post Office.
When I have problems with the postal system under Paypal, I go directly to the USPS site and print my postage from there. The problem I am having lately is payment by echeck and the 5 to 10 day hold placed on them.
When I tried to do that, I wasn;t able to pay with my PayPal account ? I was trying to keep everything together and not get another credit card involved. But maybe that's no longer an option ?
You are correct you can not use your paypal account unless you have a Paypal debit card. Easy to apply for one though Paypal. Personally I use my bank debit card. You can also order free Priority mail supplies (boxes, envelops) delivered for free to your home if you have a USPS account. It works for me and I don't have to drive into town to the post office for any of my supplies.
have not had any problems at all, when I click print postage it goes to paypal and does it's thing, not only does this make my life easier as It's 10 miles to the nearest post office, but it saves me money too, as print the label yourself at home is cheaper than the post office with the business discount.
I sell a lot on Ebay and had the same problem yesterday. It wasn't my first time trying to use the new set up, though. I am guessing it was bug in the system with eBay or USPS.
Well, I still haven't managed to fix the bug out on my end. I hate using a card through my bank, but that seems to be the only option until they fix it. who even knows if the Post Office is going to issue a refund for the cancelled postage ? Anyway, vacation is coming, so I am not listing anything else for a few weeks and see if maybe it gets fixed by the time I return ?
Best advice for eBay inquiries... Try calling eBay Customer Support. eBay also has forums that are better suited for such inquiries. CoinTalk is for coin talk AND if this must be on CT, then it ought to have been started in the General Discussion forum, not Coin Chat.
Krispy, if you don't like what is being posted and where, report it to the mods and let them handle it. That the correct way to handle this within this forum. Your comments in bold was not necessary to the conversation.
What? I don't see how I'm wrong here. Others gave their suggestions and help. I suggested the one thing no one seems to have done, call ebay customer support about the problem, CT is not customer support for eBay "glitches", stay on topic (this isn't about coins) and put one's inquiry/thread in the appropriate forum section. it's not that hard.
As I said in my revised post if you have issues with what is being posted and where, report it to the mods and let them handle it.
Ditto. However I gave sound advice to all with these 'glitch' problems. Contact eBay and follow the forum rules.
Krispy Help me here, what rule is being violated, that indicated where the proper place to post this discussion?
It's pretty obvious, this thread has nothing to do with 'coin chat'. It is a 'general discussion' topic as I stated in my first post in this thread.
