So I stopped at a bank that I havent been to before to try to get some halves. So the teller I end up with says she has no rolls and they rarely have more than a few. The teller next to me hears me and says she has about a roll loose. I said, I would take them. She hands them to my teller.....WHO....takes them as a stack, looks at the edges and then palms them all and scans the dates before handing them to me. Maybe I am suspicious, but it sure looked like the teller was looking for silver halves.

So, I got a box of nickels and left. In that box, no silver. About 30 pre-1960. 4 of 1947. Only a few 2010. I was tempted to take my box of loose nickels back to the teller who went thru the halves, but cant bring myself to do it.

I love sticking it to tellers that pull silver out right in front of me. I had one pull a couple Franklins out of $5 at a local FCU, so I went to another bank nearby, got $1000 in ones, took it back to that Credit Union, waited for that teller to become available, then made her deposit them into our business account. :D

They didn't have counting machines for bills, so she had to count them by hand.

FWIW; I believe tellers should always prioritize customer service and if it's in their tray and you ask for it, you should be entitled to it. If they make it through their shift with nobody asking for it, they get to keep it.

    1 1979 S proof
    1 1980 S Proof
    1 2004

New to rollsearching. I had to visit 7 banks before I could find any halves. I am in a rural area. I found a bag of $300 at the last bank. Also found a bank that will order me boxes of halves for free. I think I will get good results because I don't think anyone searches here.

    Results from fist $300
    3 Franklins
    18 64 Kennedys
    3 40%ers

Also found two 71D Kennedys that looks like a DDRs . Trying to get a good pic to post. I can't find anything on DDRs in that year . Any help would be greatly appreciated

Started a account at a local Savings and Loan. Asked if they would sell me the bags of coins from the coin sorter and the head of there new account group called the VP over to ask and the VP said she would keep my phone number and call anytime they got a full bag. I ask how many people they do that for and she said no one had every asked before.

I finally found a 1987-S Kennedy in a box last night after god knows how many boxes and rolls we've gone through. The funny/unfortunate thing is, it's probably one of the worst looking halves I've found. The thing looks like it was buried in the ground for 6 months.
I'm still putting it in the book because it's the only one we've found. The book is now full, we have everyone from 64-2010 but don't have all of the proof coins yet.

No silvers in 4 boxes last night.

Are you all saving the impaired halves you find? I'm trying to put together a complete set, but I have probably 50 others 1/2 of which are in really bad shape. Is there a market for them? Are you spending them?

    Just curious.....
