I agree, very tough to capture. A very small coin with a lot of relief. Avoiding hot spots on uncirculated examples is almost impossible without top of the line equipment.
nice detail in the photos...oh and it looks like someone needs to clean their keyboard but seriously, it has been hit and miss with merc photos for me. I have been trying to get a good pic of my 1940S with no luck. I have better luck raw and in PCGS slabs. The white on the NGC slabs is hard with my current setup. First pic is the 40S NGC and the second is 40D PCGS.
Here is my one and only Merc that started me in this hobby. I also have a small law enforcement badge collection and do my imaging for the coins the same way I did my badges. Not sure if it is the "right way" to do it or not, but I like the results, and it is super easy.
Ruben, I like circulated Mercs, they are cool! And they are much easier to photograph than mint state examples.
I agree, but I like them a little less worn than those It is the detail of the eyes and makes them classical
