Started looking at some coins and this is the second coin that I think has DDing. Let me know what you think? Check out the 3.
Check out the D. Excuse the pics they are from my iPhone thru a microscope and my hands aren't the steadiest!
The reverse looks like a die scratch. You can see where it starts on the center bar of the F on FIVE and continues above the mint mark.
I don't think it's a die scratch as you can see the mint mark looks doubled. I see the D shifted off another D. At least I think so.
Sorry I was looking in the wrong place. I was referring to the die scratch through FIVE. I think I see what your looking at? SE of the lower corner of the mint mark? a closer shot of the mint mark would help. a close up like this might help: http://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/coop49/BUFF_1938_D_RPMs.jpg
Still don't have a camera because I cannot find my charger or a replacement one locally. Probably could have received a shipment by now!
First I am wrong not 9 types of 37 D/D WRPM but 13 and one known D/S ...so I correct my post stating 9 varieties. I knew when I posted that there were quite a few WRPM's on this coin. AS to value yes depending on what WRPM you have I taken some pictures of one of mine and will post tomorrow as after I shot the pics last night I had problems uploading to this site.Prices depending on what WRPM you have in MS-63 range in the following 001 $33 002 $20, 003 $20, 004 $20,005 $40,006 $20, 007 $20, 008 $35 ,009 $20, 010 $30,011 $25, 012 $20,013 $20. However these prices are from an 1999 source Wexler,Pope& Flynn Treasure hunting Buffalos. Given 11 years have passed I say these prices are just a guide as to percentage between the MS-63 values 11 years ago. I hope this helps , I'm a nickel nut and love buffalos one of this country most timeless coin IMHO.
Sorry, the only two RPM's for the 1938-D's is all I have of the Buffalo's http://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/coop49/BUFF_1938_D_RPMs.jpg

Nice pics/coins but I will order a charger tomorrow for my camera as I cannot find one in town. Sure I will find mine as soon as I do. Will get a better pic when I get it.
Keep in mind I take images through a microscope. So if you can get a camera with the macro feature, that is a step in the right direction. I do have one that does have this feature and can't get close ups to show well on coins, but will work through a microscope.
