Looks like the real deal to me. And you better hope Lehigh doesn't find that thing. That green is tough to find :secret:

I like it, looks like roll toning from the center of the roll.

Oh he's just one of the local guys around here that is goo-goo gaa-gaa crazy for toned coins. And if he sees that green - I wouldn't leave him alone with that coin :D

is the color green on toned coins carry more premium?

Thats not a bad buy at that price. The toning looks all original to me as well . I would not be surprised if you were to sell that , that you would not find someone to pay $50.00 .

Your purchase price makes me very, very suspicious. Post pics of it when you get it.

I will post piks as soon as I get it, but from the looks of it, the dealer looks pretty legit
but still i'd rather see it in person than in pictures...for all I know, it could be photoshopped

As far as toned coins go, green is the money color, usually bringing a higher premium over its other toned counterparts.

That is a really nice looking Morgan. MS63 with above average eye appeal IMO. For $23 quite a steal. EBAY purchase?

I love the toning on this and im not a toner person. Whats with the squiggly lines at 9 o lock on the obverse? Slab scratch?

There are lots of toned "coin dealers" (doctors) on eBay that have over 5000 transactions and 100% feedback.

Those are what are called scrape marks - on the coin itself. Pretty common to see those on Morgans.

Oh, would something like that get graded since it looks like a distraction to the eye appeal? Thats all I notice when I see the photo.

Yeah sure it would get graded. As I said, they're pretty common. Hard to find a Morgan without a few marks like that. Most folks just refer to them as bag marks - and they are. But rather than it being an indentation into the coin it is just where 1 coin scraped against another.

Im familiar with what bag marks are, I guess its cause the coin is toned that the mark sticks out like a sore thumb, to me anyways.

I have to agree Doug. Given the apparent eye appeal of the coin, the price would seem to indicate that the coin has a problem. As for me going gaga over the coin, you convinced me not to settle when purchasing common coins. This one, although pretty, is a little too baggy.

Green is the most desirable color because it is the rarest. Here is an example of an 1886 Morgan with the much sought after emerald green.

Yes I did buy it at ebay...who also has a account here....
the guy seems pretty nice but the price...hmm
Well see when I get it...as far as bag marks...I saw it,
I didnt mind since its my first actual "toned" coin...

I have a couple of morgans and the toning on them is pretty
much the average gold on the rims...
I will show pics when I do purchase it, besides...if anything the
dealer said I could return it if im not satisfied with it...

btw lehigh96, great to meet you...and that green on the morgan looks
fantastic...im envious....I have seen alot of those Battle Creek Morgans all over
