I have bought many very special coins from Glenn Holsonbake; my first purchase from him was one of the nicest AU 58's that I had ever seen - and over the years we have become friends. As a matter of fact, I'll be asisting Glenn at the ANA - table 1521 - so, if you're at the Boston ANA, stop by and say hello ! [ BTW - I really like that 1910 Half !! ]
Last month, I assited my friend, Glenn Holsonbake at the Boston ANA. It was my first time on the other side of the aisle and I had a blast. I met a couple of fellow Barber collectors - and of course, we had a lot to talk about. I also went to the Barber Coin Collectors Society meeting. That was also a very interesting couple of hours. My newps: I swapped my 1901-S Half in PCGS 63 - for a much nicer toned example: and I also picked up a great looking 1895-S Dime in MS 64 as well... I also picked up a half dozen SLQ's for my newest collection. But - that's fodder for a separate thread...
I only have a few rolls of Barber Dimes. The quarters and halves never grabbed me. Mine dimes are all well circulated. Sorry no pics. I am sure enjoying the pics above. Nice thread!
Just got a few images from Todd at BluCCphotos... Here is the only coin that I "walked thru" at the ANA - I was hoping for a Plus...
This isn't mine but I did take a look at it during lot viewing for Goldberg's upcoming auction: It's called the Assassinated President's collection as the faces of Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley and Kennedy are pressed into the coins. The first three are Barbers and the middle two coins were dated 1909 so I had to check this one out To my surprise, the Quarter w/ Garfield on it is a 1909-O Barber Quarter!!!!! Ouch!!! Based on what I could see that one was probably an AU example when it was damaged with Garfield's face... big ouch!!!!!!!
Glen is truly one of the good dealers , if you ever make it around Chicago or environs let me know . Rusty
Wow, I missed that one the first time through. That's quite a coin, Elbesaar. Is it slightly prooflike, as appears from the photos?
I've posted most of my high-grade barber coinage in other threads. Don't think I've posted this one: Please excuse the old and poor photos.
Nice original coin Lugia. You don't see many coins like that any more. A dip and it's worth twice that (or more). Don't you dare!
Leadfoot...Yes, its fully PL - as all Micro O's are. It seems as though the wrong Rev Die MM was discovered soon into the production run and the REV die was pulled almost immediately. ------------------------------------------------------------- Rusty - I'll be at the ANA when it comes to Chicago.
