i know what you guys mean about ASE's toning more quickly than other coins ... here is a good example
to my eye ... this looks natural ... unlike the crazy red one I posted in the OP

Thanks. :smile Please in future ALWAYS provide the link! :thumb: This way we can assess the coin the same way you did, and the assess the seller, listing, feedback, etc.

Incidentally, I'd say NT on this coin as it seems comparable to other ASE toning I've seen.

I own this one, I paid $35 for it.

And Chris, I wouldn't let PCGS off the hook quite yet. They have a history of certifying questionably toned ASE's. I don't own this one but the photography looks familiar.

Paul do you happen to know which slab that trippy ASE toner was in first? The PCI or PCGS? Where does this one come from?

It was in the PCI holder first and I am relatively sure that the seller in this thread sold it at one time.

Looks like PCI standards are higher than PCGS based on this observation.... I have a few old pci's that I'm sure would upgrade easily at ngc or pcgs also.... too bad they gone,,, enjoyed cherry picking those 3rd level tpg's on ebay a lot.

Do the 999 Fine Candian silver maples react like the ASE's? I have one from 1989 that is sealed in the soft government PVC laden plastic envelope. It still is brillant but is developing pvc spots.

Under the right conditions yes they do. Silver is silver.
