THE THREE 1972 IKE DOLLAR VARIETIES: As you know from reading your Red Book, there were three different reverse designs struck at the Philadelphia Mint on the Eisenhower Dollars during 1972. Thanks to JMS Coins' website you will now see photos of the three different reverses: Type I's reverse was minted in low relief: 1972 TYPE I IKE DOLLAR Type II's reverse was struck in high relief. The red round circle points out that the fields of the coin virtually merge with the map of earth. It, also, shows there are no visible islands below Florida. The red elipsis encircles the craters below the Eagle revealing that the bottom larger crater has an incuse line behind it and there are no tiny craters inside the crater to the right: 1972 TYPE II IKE DOLLAR Type III's reverse was minted in high relief. The red round circle now let's you see three distinct islands below Florida. The larger crater within the red elipsis no longer rests on an incuse line and the smaller crater now has two smaller craters within its boundaries: 1972 TYPE III IKE DOLLAR Do you have all three?
