It's arrived! 1798 large cent :D

    And in hand I am pretty sure it is 1898/7 overdate. Hard to get a picture to show it well.

    I can't make out an overdate - just not enough detail. It's a great coin for your $20 set though - nice find!

    Sorry for the let down but I'd say it is NOT any of the overdates (there are three of them). First impression and after a quick flip throuh the book my first impression is S-169. I can't see much on the reverse but the date is a small 8 set high and close to the bust but not touching. The date is widely spaced, and the 1 is just left of being centered below the notch between the hair and the bust. Closest match I can see for the date position looks like Obv 20 S-168 and 169. On 168 the POL is below the center of the D in UNITED, On 169 it is further right more under the curves. From what I see it looks like it is further right than the center.
