I read the interesting thread devoted to coins of exotic islands. And I've got an idea to post a part of my collection of such coins in this thread. I'll be glad if you'll share your coins too!
Maybe Niue could have that JFK commem made again. This time as a 50th anniversary piece. Some of the others I like, such as Tuvalu's octopus. And the New Hebrides coin has an interesting font; I think it is used on other pieces from there as well. Christian
I always liked this design on a recent Solomon Islands coin: Solomon Islands 5 Cents 2005 - Ngorieru Obverse: Queen Elizabeth II Reverse: Ngorieru, chief of the island sea spirits These sea spirits were sometimes depicted as having human heads and fishlike bodies with gills Because the figure on the reverse looked like this one from some time ago: Rome Denarius Trajan - Parthico Mars Struck: AD 116-117, Rome mint Commemorates the Roman conquest of Parthia (now Iraq)
Nice coin, but we have various Sea-Lands around here. Yours is not from there but from there. Christian
Wow. This is about 1/2 as much as the '95-W 5-pc 10th anniversary set with the $1SE and the 4 AGE coins. Yet that set retails about $10K if you can find one.
