I've temporarily pried an older laptop loose from one of my Minecraft-obsessed kids, so I'll seize the opportunity to post a couple more of the coins from that ANACS submission I mentioned earlier in the evening.

I was pleased with the results on both of these, although I don't think it's giving away too much to say that I wish the grades were reversed. :) What do you think they got?

    Two bits of additional info:

    1) That hit on the cheek on the 1921 is pretty substantial and deep. I'm not sure why this photo didn't show it better. I had to laugh -- I took a look at the Making the Grade 2nd Edition photos for Peace dollars, and the MS63 image had a cheek hit that looked very much the same as this one does in-hand.

    2) I would swear that the 1934-S had blotchy brown stains when I sent it in. I don't know whether they rinsed it for me without saying anything, or whether I'm just remembering a different coin.

The fact that you referenced an MS-63 1921 tells me that's probably not what it came back as, but...
    I'll say:
    1921 - MS-63+
    1934-S - AU-55

Alas, it's more of a cheek hit than that. :)

The 1921 is sharply detailed for the type...MS63

I should probably re-image that cheek hit; I'll either post a close-up this evening or just go ahead and post the grades.

The 1921 really does seem remarkably well-struck. I'm torn between flipping it and keeping it for my very own. :)

My initial thoughts were 63/4 and 55, but if the cheek hit is as bad as you say it its, then it might be a 62+. I don't know which way ANACS leans on its grades though...

    Nice coins, by the way!

    My guess is 1921 MS-63
    1934 XF-45

No chance of getting more photos tonight, so I'll go ahead an post the grades:

    1921: MS62
    1934-S: AU50

I'm pleased with both. I wasn't sure the 21 would grade with the large cheek hit and the reverse hit on E, but it had a lot of luster, and a phenomenal strike, at least to my eye. I also wasn't sure the 34-S would grade because of general cruddiness, and if it did, I really didn't expect it to make AU.

I got a message that the laptop's ready to pick up, but naturally I didn't get it until after the Apple Store was closed. I'll retrieve it tomorrow, and then I should be able to post followup photos.

    Thanks for playing, everyone!

Sure is a lot of luster and meat left on the 34s for an au50, but a lot of circulation scuffs and hairlines too.

Both very nice coins. The 1921 I would go MS 62, as the hit on the cheek is pronounced. The 1934s to me is a solid AU--50-53.

As promised, close-ups of the cheek hit and the hit to "E" in "AMERICA" on that 1921:
