poor Mint Quality

Sent my Lincoln Chronicles set back. spots on 2 of the pennies and glue smeared inside the leather holder. Instead of making money I guess I lost out. Not sure if I'll get a replacement

I have also noticed that the mint set were actually disappointing, however I did not return them. I didn't expect them to be perfect but I still thought they lacked the quality. As for the silver proof sets, the silver quarters were all hazy (should have probably returned those also). Also one penny in one of the sets had a huge finger smudge on the obverse.

I thought about ordering a UHR eagle, but might considering buying one at a show that I can look at first.

Any others having problems?

at work I mentioned to a couple of coworkers that I was going to buy the 2009 unc set, three others went in with me to save shipping costs, so the sets came, I eeeny meeny minied mine and opened up the cardboard holder, ugh, the p mint quarters all were scuffed on washingtons cheeks, I mean like someone had placed them face down and pirouetted on them, but anyway I chose my set and took the other three into work, let the guys pick them, nobody else had coins so dinged up as my wash quarters, but two of the sets had the penny misplaced, one it was on top of the nickle, the other it was on top of a quarter, nobody wanted to ship them back tho.

I also ordered some first spouse bronze medals and the capped bust one had a finned rim.

I have a bunch of my fathers mint purchases and have not seen anything wrong with any of them, So I think this unc set messup, only one good one out of four was an anomoly.

I ordered a 2009 proof set and it was fine, my Lincoln Chronicles set is beautiful. A couple other sets weren't too good. I ordered that 2008 Presidents set with the ASE and 2 President coins had milk spots on them. I ordered a 2009 mint set unc and it was the pitts. I didn't send anything back though. I wanted to send back the 2009 Uncirculated set but the boss (the wife) told me just to hang onto it. Glad I listened to her on that idea b/c it's most likely the only 2009 dimes and nickels I'll end up with. Better luck next time!!

I noticed some very small brown spots on one of the cents. That disapointed me, but the others were quite beatiful, especially the dollar. 95% happy.

Well I just got my confirmation of a refund back from the mint. So, basically I got no Lincoln Chronicles and I'm out the original 4.95 shipping + the 6.70 to return it. So much for making money. I sent the set back because I would be very upset to buy that set from a dealer, and I really doubt that I could sell it to one, unless of course they didn't look at it.

I would bet they just shipped my set out to someone on the wait list, so good luck w/a crappy set. This is poor service. I plan on sending them an email to vent my frustration.

The mint has a quality control issue. NO business would ship out a proof set with these obvious problems had anyone ever looked at it, unless they figured people were clamouring for it and would keep it anyway.

I have had a mint set with issues this year and a LN6 with red stuff smeared on one of the cents. I've been very disappointed on the Mint's QC/QA.

Let's be careful not to complain to much. They may end up sending all of the USA minting to China, Mexico or Brazil.

follow up

Went to the ISNA coin show today in indy. Very hard to find Chronicles set. One dealer was selling for 150 and buying for 125. I told him about the set I returned and he said he would have paid between 80 and 100 for it even with the bad penny.

As a side note I got over spot for 10oz silver bars. Same dealer was selling 10oz at $3 over spot. but I found another that was selling 10oz for 185.

Couldnt buy any decent bust or
seated halves or dollars for anywhere near greysheet. Much more of a sellers show than a buyers-to me at least.

I'am almost thinking the mint had a lot of proof dollars & cents left over so decided to put together the Chronicle sets
