It varies - a lot. Here are the eBay fees;
http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/fees.html

PayPal also varies a bit, but it is about $.35 + 3%

8.75 % of closing value, plus a listing fee, plus a pay pal fee. I now understand why most coins are overvalued on e-bay. Seems like a losing proposition for sellers, especially if offering free shipping.

ebay kills free market. They just run a damn website, they should take 1-2% at most and include paypal for FREE AS A SERVICE TO THEIR USERS.

Below is the website you can calculate all the EBay+Paypal fee

http://www.newlifeauctions.com/calc.html

By the way, do sellers on auction houses such as HA, DLRC,... pay selling fee like EBay? I know bidders have to pay 15% buyer's premium, which is a ridiculous high amount to me.

Here's the best eBay fee calculator that I've found. Very helpful and I use it all of the time when planning any of my listings:

Do paypal fees go up if the buyer pays with a credit card linked to paypal?

Super on the link to calculate Ebay fees. This is the second great link I have come across this week. The other is how to pull up only negatives on an Ebay seller. Thanks guys.

Too much!!

I recently came into possession of a new Tiffany Sterling Silver necklace that retails for $725. I paid $250 for it locally after seeing ebay auctions for the same thing end from $300-$395. I thought I'd make a quick buck.

Well, my necklace sold for $304 (a bit dissappointing), but after the eBay fee of $12.30, the paypal fee of $9.12, and my shipping cost of $8.59, (a total of $30.01 in expenses!), I walked away with but a $23.99 profit. Sarcastic *woot*.

I definately need to find an alternative to eBay. Might be ok for buying, but I don't see how anyone makes money on low margin products.

FEEBAY, STAY WAY!!! FEEBAY STAY AWAY!

If you are fairly new to the selling market, I would only sell coins that would get you a nice amount of money. Don't bother selling coins that are worth $10 or less in book value, because after fees, and shipping, you will barely get anything.

Tell that to their share holders. I heard their profits are still falling right now because of the economy. Not as many people buying things. If anything, fees will keep going up.

One more fee btw. If you get a paypal debit card so you can withdraw paypal funds directly from an ATM, they charge a $1.50 fee. Not as much fun being a seller as people would think. The 3% paypal fee is a killer.

Sellers on HA, DLRC, Teletrade, Stacks, etc. all pay a sellers fee. I believe in all cases it's a percentage of the price realized.
