Some Vatican Euro Coins can be seen here.

Vatican City also has it's own telephone, drug store and postal system.
Poste Vaticane is more reliable and quicker than Poste Italiane as well.

Today's coins from the Vatican looks like this:

* The "circulation" coins
http://ec.europa.eu/economy_finance/...ins8691_en.htm

* The commemorative coins
http://ec.europa.eu/economy_finance/...ins8729_en.htm

Note that "circulation" is in inverted commas. The Vatican does not issue any coins for circulation. On one hand that makes sense since, like anybody else in Euroland, they can use all euro and cent circulation coins. On the hand one might ask why they "need" to issue coins at all then.

That is why the European Commission recently suggested modifying the monetary agreements with MC, SM and VA. The new rules, if approved by the Council, would allow them to issue more coins per year, but only part of the volume could then be sold at higher prices.

Since I cannot edit my older posts here, this is a separate post with only little additional info. Anyway, this is what a current €2 piece from the Vatican looks like:

Here is the reverse (common side) of that denomination. Note however that this updated map was not used until 2007, and VA did not use it until 2008.
