Two questions: 1) Is there any reeding on the coin at all? 2) how close to the size of a regular quarter is it? without reeding I would say it was broad struck as well, but this would stretch it out in size a bit too. But, it is a fabulous coin.

No reeding anywhere all the way around. Also compared to another state quarter
it is just a hair larger.
Thank You
Stewart

I thought broadstruck immediately...

Uncentered broadstrike, not an Off-Center.

How could it be larger and still be a quarter planchet?

A broadstrike is created when the collar is not properly in place. Without the collar to restrain it the planchet expands outward under the force of the strike to a size slightly greater than what it would have been in the collar. The original planchet was the same size, but the final product is slightly larger than it should have been.

My Mood: | I got asked a question about the plain edge quarter before and I really didn't have an answer. Here is the question from another place. http://coinspace.org/forum/posts/id_...idge-Quarters/
This coins "quarters" are coming out more and more as the time goes by. Can it be a new variety?
This is the first time I see it as a "broad strike" more than a "off center" if you ask me. GREAT TOPIC! |

I have two, a 2007 Wyoming and a 2007 Utah ... But both are only "of center" on the reverse...
