My collecting philosophy is simple. I search for coins that speak to me. Coins that make an immediate impression when I see them. If I don't think the coin has fantastic eye appeal, I don't buy it. As a result, most of my coins are rainbow toned pieces. It is a rare occurrence that a blast white coin draws my attention. However, it does happen from time to time. In the upcoming Heritage Signature sale, there is a gorgeous top pop blast white 1937 Washington Quarter NGC MS67*W in auction. Here are some photos and a link to the auction. http://coins.ha.com/common/view_item.php?SaleNo=1129&LotIdNo=197004 I will be bidding on this beautiful coin. This particular piece sold for $833.75 in the August 2004 Pittsburgh Signature Sale. Here is a link to that auction. http://coins.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=352&Lot_No=6114#photo The contest is very simple. Guess the price that this coin will realize (including buyers premium) in the upcoming auction. The person who's guess is closest wins the contest. The only rules are that you must reply to this thread only once and you must submit your guess prior to the start of bidding on 8/21/09. The winner of the contest will be determined on September 13th at the close of the auction. The winner will receive an NGC MS66 toned Washington Quarter of their choice from the following selections. Have fun & good luck!
Great contest Lehigh, and great prizes! :thumb: I'm going to say that beauty will go for a whopping $850. Thanks!
I believe it stood for White. Here's an article on it (it's discontinued now) NGC to Discontinue "W" Designation
Thanks for the contest Lehigh, those are some nice coins you are offering... I feel like I just got picked to be on the Price is Right! I shall guess that this coin will realize (including buyers premium): USD $793.23
