Stay Puff Lincoln Penny

O.K... I hope I'm doing this right. I'll try to post a picture of this penny.
A 1999 Lincoln Penny that looks like Abe is super puffed up..and the date and Liberty. It also looks like the copper coloring didn't stick on the rim and some on the coat and a little on the face. Same on the back. Silver color showing through. Wish you could see it in person, 3D. People say - Wow - what happened to Abe?

Have no idea how this could have happened. Haven't seen anything like it.
Any ideas?

I've never seen anything like it either

Only a guess - but I wonder if perhaps the zinc is corroding under the copper layer and causing this effect.

This is post-strike damage. I've seen it many times before. Exactly what causes it, I do not know. The design features are pounded into mush. Sometimes the copper plating is eroded through during this process.

My guess is mechanical doubling (maybe triple struck) and then a tumble through a laundromat washing machine for a few weeks.

Cool find, whatever it turns out to be
