New member-- Mule 2008 20p coin. no date. minting error??

Hi there everyone, firstly apologies for any obscurities in my descriptions or wordings however i am not a coin collector and no offence but really have no interest in coins.......

However, i own a hair/beauty salon and recently found a 20p coin in the till drawer with no date on the coin. I have researched the coin and it is definately one of the coins the royal mint has produced by mistake with no date. It has the 'old style' queens head with no date and the 'new style' coat of arms on the other side with no date. The coin is in good condition with no scratches etc and definatley has no date on either side.

I'm just posting on here as i'm after some oppinion as to what it might be worth and figure the best people to ask are people who actually collect coins.

I am aware the London mint will pay £50 and i'm aware they have no link at all with the royal mint and will just re-sell for profit. i've seen some people offering £30-£90 for them on other coin forums but there are also a few genuine ones on ebay selling for £200-£400!!!

So i ask you all.....whats it all about?? how much would it actually be worth? is it worth hanging onto? are the ebay prices just hype? (ie odinary people who dont know coins desp tryin to get one to sell on??)

Any oppinions on what to do with my coin will be gratefully recieved and thanks for your time reading my post.

Hoefully i'll get something for the coin...even if its only a 20pence mix :-)

Thanks again
Andy

Hi can you possibly post a pic or scan of both sides of the coin just so that we can be certain which one it is you are talking about.
Now as for value it is worth precisly what a collector will pay for it, I know that might sound vague but that is the truth of the matter. If you put it up on ebay then good luck with getting the best possible price
I would sugest that if you list it to make sure that you post very clear pics of both sides and make absolutly sure that when you send it to the winning bidder it goes fully insured and not just proof of posting.

Weel if you are seeing thm being sold on eBay and they are actually selling for 200 to 400 pounds, then you should be able to get somewhere in that price range. At least for awhile. What it will be in the future is anyone's guess. Although I would guess that if Jello is right about the mintage then it will probably be less in the future.

With 100,000-200,000 they are not as rare as one my think.
eBay is a different world folks buy anything they think maybe rare. 9 out 10 times it is not rare the only thing that is rare is the price they payed

One comment, I believe these were made in 2009, not 2008.
