He is a member of Ricks coin club in Tucson. I had no idea such a youngster could be so knowledgeble and informed. I do believe he is an Acanthite in the making;)

If we're lucky, he might stop by next Tucson show and say hi to us. He did stop by my table a year or so ago.

    :)

It would be great to meet him in Tucson, definitely. As a matter of fact, I just today made my hotel reservations for that show - can't wait for the Mexican food, your guitar playing, and then the party van off to the casino for a hot game of poker!

You book the wrong place. Hotel Arizona is where it's at. Cheaper too, I have a secret rate, just like NN.:hail:

I know but I have not so fond memories of your hotel when I spent 6 weeks there in trial! However, how's the bar there? Maybe I'll reconsider...... especially if you get me that extra special secret handshake rate!

p.s. by the way, I was not ON trial - I was IN trial as a paralegal!

I just find it more convenient to the show, a quick jaunt and save the parking......bar, lounge restuaraunt, it's all there. Better security. Safe deposit boxes on request.

rate drop compares to the rate i helped you with on NN.

    Call me tommorow around noon.....

    Large Shows

Hi, i have never attended any large coin shows(My state show was the largest for me). I read in Coin World awhile back about 6 or 8 dealers being robbed at once in Florida i think(so much for safety in numbers). Does that type of thing happen very often, or was that an isolated case?

Armed robbery coin thefts, not so much; coin thefts at shows, yes, more often, but none have been more than security holding them for police, police showing up to haul them away (or, in the case of petty theft, give them a citation and kick them out).

The Tucson show we were discussing has maybe 50 or so dealers, so it's not that large, but it has many different types of coins and paper money for sale, so you have a much better selection at the larger shows.

Tony says Tucson has 150 dealers ( tables? ).....My Sunday show has 40 and is 1/5 the size, room wise. I'll guess Tucson at 75-100 dealers ( many have 2 and 3 tables ).

I have had that page booked for a couple of years. Stone did a good job with this.

I thought I remembered a dedicated webpage with the same info but my link seems to be dead.

I just found out that this post won the Thread of the Week! Wow, thank you for nominating it - that's really wonderful - and Stone's thread really is a great link!

I agree 100% this is the best site , I have searched other sites but they seemed stuck on certain areas in coin collecting.
